Well, the fan over my chipset died a few months ago, and as a temp fix I had just pointed a case fan directly at it. It seemed to do the trick and I never had the motivation to attempt to remove and replace the actual fan. Well, the fan which was just sitting on the bottom of the case appears to have fallen over on its side. I leave my PC on 24/7 and it overheated during the night and now it wont post. The board was an older Asus A8NSLI. I don't even remember exactly what CPU I was using. A dual core Athlon of some sort, with 4 gigs of ram which will not be useable with a modern MB. So, it looks like at the very least I need to buy a MB, CPU and RAM.

I have not kept up with hardware and am seeing a lot of new things, like triple data rate ram. Ive always had a tendency to overbuy when putting together my computers, when I last upgraded roughly 3 years ago I spent about 1k on the mb, cpu, ram and graphics card. For at least the last 2 years I have done no gaming whatsoever on my pc, but I am having a hard time trying to pass up this deal ( http://www.tigerdire...89&sku=B69-2100 ) in favor of this one ( http://www.tigerdire...31&Sku=B69-4008 ) which would ultimatly save me from having to upgrade my power supply and avoid the temptations of a new video card.

Does anyone have any suggestions on which way I should go? Or perhaps a different idea? I don't have any brand loyalties. If you think im better off with something else? I'm assuming even the less expensive option will be an improvement over what I had.
