CULVER CITY, CALIF. (August 24, 2009) – The Shield: The Complete Series Collectionthe Emmy®-winning, groundbreaking series that turned the conventional cop drama upside down, debuts in a 28-Disc DVD Gift Set November 3 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The entire 88 episodes of the gritty series will be presented in a collectible 34-page bound anthology book filled with photos, quotes, and a special letter from creator Shawn Ryan, plus two all-new featurettes -- a documentary about the Los Angeles Rampart division police scandal that served as the inspiration for the series and a behind-the-scenes set tour of the “The Barn,” the location where the series was shot. The Shield: The Complete SeriesCollection will be available for $159.95 SLP.


The Shield takes place in a tough, morally ambiguous world in which the line between right and wrong is crossed everyday and the road to justice is twisted.  It focuses on the tension between a group of corrupt but effective cops and a captain torn between bringing them down and advancing his own political ambitions.

Created and written by Shawn Ryan (TV’s “The Unit”) and executive produced by Ryan, Kurt Sutter, Charles Eglee, Adam Fierro and Kevin Cremin, the show stars Emmy® and Golden Globe® winner Michael Chiklis (Fantastic Four) as rogue cop Detective Vic Mackey who administers his own brand of justice as he tries to maintain balance in the criminal ecosystem of L.A.’s seedy Farmington Division. Mackey and Catherine Dent (Someone Like You), Walton Goggins (The Bourne Identity), Michael Jace (Forrest Gump), Jay Karnes (The Next Best Thing), David Marciano (Lethal Weapon 2), Benito Martinez (Million Dollar Baby), David Reese Snell (TV’s “The Unit”), Cathy Cahlin Ryan (TV’s “Monk”)  and Emmy® nominee CCH Pounder (TV’s “ER”).
