Lionsgate is proud to announce the upcoming DVD releases of Keeping Up with the Kardashians: Season Two andSummer's Moon and the Blu-ray Disc releases of Near Dark and Red Heat, all arriving November 10th.

Keeping Up with the Kardashians: Season Two
Catch up with Kim, Kourtney, Khloé and the rest of the Kardashian clan with the DVD release of Keeping Up with the Kardashians: Season Two.  Relive the outrageous moments from all ten episodes of the second season of this hilarious reality television show, which originally aired in the Spring of 2008 on E! Entertainment Television.  Season two of Keeping Up with the Kardashians delivered the most-watched telecast for the series yet, averaging over 1.9 million total viewers.  The DVD features bonus materials including deleted scenes and Rob Kardashian Jr.'s video blog.

"Keeping up with the Kardashians" is more fun than ever as the show returns for season two. Kim, Khloé and Kourtney are back in the limelight, focusing on their individual careers, while mom Kris tries to keep the family together and manage her daughters' professional lives.  Will the family let fame go to Kim's head?  Is step-dad Bruce Jenner ready for a fabulous makeover?  How will younger brother Rob be able to juggle a new gal and money-making modeling gigs?  Who can keep up with all of that?  Drop by and find out!
Pricing: DVD $19.98

Summer's Moon
Summer's Moon stars Twilight's Ashley Greene as Summer, a young woman who is eager to find her estranged father and sets out on a cross-country journey. When she encounters a slight run-in with the law, a local handyman rescues her much to her amazement.  It's an unusual connection, but she is quickly charmed and accepts his invitation to spend the night.  The following morning she is in for a rude awakening when he decides to change the rules of attraction and traps her inside his house.  Taken prisoner in the demented stranger's basement, Summer's dream has come to a bitter end and her real-life nightmare has only just begun.  Summer's Moon on DVD features behind the scenes footage and will be released to coincide with the theatrical opening of The Twilight Saga: New Moon.
Pricing: DVD $27.98

Near Dark Blu-ray Disc
The film that Time Magazine called "the all-time teenage vampire love story,Near Dark, comes to Blu-ray for the first time from Lionsgate.  From acclaimed director Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt Locker) and starring three-time Golden Globe® winner Bill Paxton (HBO's "Big Love") and Adrian Pasdar (TV's "Heroes"), Near Dark has been hailed as "outrageous and poetic" (The Washington Post), "scary and erotic" (Chicago Reader) and "a terrifying ride to the edge of darkness" (Time Out London). In addition, the film's fated lovers - one a vampire (Jenny Wright) and the other a human (Pasdar) - were recently named toEntertainment Weekly's list of the "20 Greatest Vampires." Coinciding with the theatrical release of The Twilight Saga: New MoonNear Dark makes its Blu-ray debut this November in 1080P High Definition Widescreen with 5.1 DTS-HD Master audio for the low suggested retail price of $19.99.

Pricing: Blu-ray Disc $19.98

Red Heat Blu-ray Disc
Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Belushi star in the non-stop action thriller Red Heat, coming to Blu-ray for the first time from Lionsgate this November. From the director of 48 Hours and costarring an impressive cast including Laurence Fishburne, Peter Boyle and Gina Gershon, Red Heat has been called "fast and brutal" (Washington Post) and "an action picture with a sense of humor" (Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times). The Blu-ray disc is presented in 1080P High Definition Widescreen with 5.1 DTS HD Master Audio, and includes three featurettes, a making-of TV special and the original trailer and TV spots.

Arnold Schwarzenegger (Terminator 2: Judgment Day) is Captain Ivan Danko, a by-the-book Russian detective who partners with a fearless but undisciplined American cop (James Belushi) to track down Russia's deadliest drug smuggler through the mean streets of Chicago in this adrenaline-fueled action thriller.

Glad to see Near Dark getting a BD release.  It's a favorite of mine.

Unfortunately I suppose I'll have to hang on to my 2-Disc Anchor Bay SE just to retain the bonus material.

Just received review copies of Red Heat and Near Dark, very late (obviously). They will have to wait on some other things I'm working on.

The only reason I'm posting is to note that, to my surprise and disappointment, both of these titles have been released on a BD-25. Now, it's entirely possible to release a good-looking film on Blu-ray using a BD-25, but when the disc also includes a lot of supplements and lossless audio, I get concerned. I'll be looking at these with a critical eye, but not until next week. In the meantime, buyer beware. At least the price is low.

Having just watched Near Dark on Blu-ray, I can offer this preview of the review: definitely NOT recommended. Or: how to botch a Blu-ray.

Just to give you an idea, the 2002 2-disc DVD version from Anchor Bay looks better, overall, when upconverted through my Blu-ray player. Why? The usual culprit: DNR. Further particulars in the full review, but this is a huge disappointment.

Ack!  In light of Lionsgate's continued iffy track record,

Since I may not have time to finish the Red Heat review today, a quick preview: another victim of DNR, but not as badly damaged as Near Dark. It's watchable. The soundtrack is quite good.

As far as I know, we didn't get that one. It's been erratic at best.

REALLY hoping MBV, Monster Squad and Cujo fare better as those are the three I've ordered.
Universal, please release Streets of Fire on Blu-ray.
