I wonder if the general public would be familiar enough with this character to want to see this movie.

Hell, I'm still wondering if Fox is familiar enough with this character. It doesn't appear so.
Universal Blu-ray Discs I will not be buying while they're offered only as Blu-ray + DVD 'flipper' discs:

The Jackal
, Out of Africa, and Traffic.

The only thing Fox needs to know, and cares about, is if this "product" will generate $.

Except for the Weapon XI stuff at the end of the film, I think they did alright. The after credit Deadpool scene was great and seemed to get the character.

Yeah, except that part where they totally bastardized the character. Posted Image

Never say never, but just from Wolverine, there was nothing about deadpool that made me want to see an entire movie about him. For me, he (it?) was about the least interesting villain possible. Moreso since in my screening he was dead at the end.

Fox just has visions of dollar signs dancing in their heads right now. If I were pressed to make a bet, I'd wager this project never sees the light of day. But perhaps that's just wishful thinking because I have visions of Elektra dancing in my head after reading this news. Posted Image

I think it would be pretty cool, only thing is his character is very sarcastic and it may not go over well with the general audience. Sarcasm has to be appreciated but everyone can accept a badass such as wolverine.

They ought to turn it into performance art. Since Deadpool always breaks the fourth wall, have him turn to the camera and say, "Hey, you with the phone! Stop recording the movie!" Then, they could make it looks like he jumps out and have a guy in costume right there and a plant with a phone who he grabs.

You're right, it wasn't as bad as Daredevil.

Based on my response to this thread, my answer would be "not familiar in the slightest". When I saw the title of this thread, I assumed it was referring to the 1988 Clint Eastwood movie
