Sam,

Perhaps you posted this elsewhere but I am very curious to know
how iMovie works and your experience with AVCHD?

I hear it is not an easy drag and drop procedure, takes up a lot
of processing power, and that Mac not especially friendly towards it.

Unfortunately all the really good new camcorders are in that
format so this is something I am inevitibly going to have to deal with.

All my movies have been posted with iMovie so far, and it's ok. Check out the latest one I posted here:
Navesink.Net: LTC Scott Hamann's Assumption of Charter Video

If you want to stay at 1920x1080 its a bit of a hassle, and it requires transcoding everything. Thats the nature of AVCHD tho and not really iMovie's fault...

I do all my iMovie at their 'large; setting, but I keep a copy of my native 1920x1080 files for future editing by a drag and drop process, it treats the cam just like a hard drive...
