I was surprised to see there wasn't a thread about this yet.

I thought it was pretty funny. Definitely made me laugh out loud several times, which is no easy feat. My one concern is that the main character is REALLY unlikable and that may wear thin with some people. I'm fine with it, as long as they don't go too overboard with it.

I want to work at a junior high where nobody has a problem with the gym teacher going Christian Bale on the PA.

There were some priceless moments here: the PA speech and high fiving the janitors on the way out, cutting to the debasement of the herpes woman on/off the jet ski, the VO narration that turns out to be him listening to his own book on tape, crying himself to sleep, and a couple more.

And, much like CURB (but this show is not as smart or as funny), the show is ridiculously uncomfortable to watch. McBride pushes it as far as you can. He's SO unlikeable.

I'll definitely watch. In short doses, this kind of comedy doesn't get on my nerves too much.

I loved the pilot. Danny McBride has a gift for playing this type of character. If you've seen The Foot Fist Way and enjoyed it - you should love this new series.

I read somewhere that the Pilot episode was taped months prior to the rest of them, and Katy Mixon lost a lot of weight between the taping of the pilot and the rest of the series.
I loved the show. I can't wait for the DVD so I can sit down and watch the whole series back to back like one long movie (which is what it felt like, one long movie).

I just watched Foot Fist Way last night, and it was probably the worst movie I've ever seen. It's ambitious, but barely a movie. It's so low budget, it makes "Clerks" look like "Titanic". The only funny line in the whole movie is when McBride's wife says she works in "dentistry" and he says "Dentistry? I can't even believe that's something that's real."
It wasn't nearly as funny as Eastbound.

This is the first time I saw this thread.

I really loved this show and enjoyed it each and every week. I really liked how each show just stopped and the next one took right off from that point.

I hope the ratings were good because I want to see another season.

I had to wonder at times how much weight she lost from one scene to the next.

Weeks later, still can't get this line out of my head.

"I love you. You're a nice girl. But you've got clothes like a fucking dickhead."

Followed quickly by "Damn, my pussy itches." I believe. :D

Funny season capped by that hilarious pitch-off. I'm glad it's coming back.

They have the whole thing on HBO on demand. I watched it over 2 days, hillarious. I loved the dental dam conversation at the begining of epidosde 2.

Bumping this thread because I recently saw S01 of Eastbound and Down for the first time. Frickin' hilarious. I wanted to see this due to enjoying McBride's "Vice Principals" series. And, both shows bear some similarities due to the school setting, etc. However, in E&D McBride pretty much carries the whole show. I can't decide which one is funnier (yet), but will reserve judgement until after I see the next 3 seasons of E&D.

It seems obvious that McBride's Kenny Powers character is based on/inspired by former Atlanta Braves Pitcher John Rocker, who made numerous extremely offensive & inflammatory comments back in the late '90's/early 200X's - in many cases against people who lived in NYC.

The entire season was hilarious, sick, and at times stomach-turning - some stand-out moments:

-When Kenny Powers is having dinner with his brother's family, and makes fun of his sister-in-law for naming their baby daughter Rose (after KW's character in Titanic), and then sarcastically asks if her oldest son is nick-named "Shrek" :D

-Will Ferrell's Ashley Schaeffer, the owner of the car dealership - and his constant attempts to get Kenny to do his trade-mark fast pitch - which eventually ends up resulting in Powers literally knocking someone's eye out

I saw the series on DVD, and there were some great special features, which included some hysterical deleted scenes, unused sequences, etc. - including many that were even sicker & more offensive than what was seen in the finished show - LOL.

Wait until a future season when you see Ashley Schaeffer at his mansion. It's a series highlight.
