The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

"LP" in the RoundUp table means a store’s Sunday flyer says "Low Price". That means I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, as always, Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

I'm amazed that they are selling the 12 disc Rogers and Hammerstein Collection at Target for $12.99. Anybody else think that's a misprint?

I do know that I'll be picking up Perry Mason as soon as I see Target's price on it Tuesday morning. They had it pictured as "Coming Soon" on the New Release display. And I'll see what I can find out about the Casablanca gift.

Good Lord... How many times can I pick up Casablanca? But that Ultimate Blu-ray is very tempting! Narnia, Shawshank, X-Files and SNL also have my interest, but with X-Mas coming, I think I'd better hold off.

Thanks for the tease, guys!

Oy...I was dreading this week. Both X Files movies, Wanted and TDTESS on BD. Shawshank Redemption is on the list, but that is going to come in 2009.

Thanks for the Roundup. Just Prince Caspian SE for me. Prices are as outrageous as Wall E. I love the way Disney adds that damned worthless digital copy to CALL it a 3 disc set & up the price from $22.99 to $27.99 or higher. I'd like to beat the crap out of whoever came up with the digital copy idea. People who buy the barebones get a nice price and those of us who like features get reamed.

This item is available in stores, but is not available online.

According to Amazon it's the 12 disk set!

almost a bait and switch, in my store they only had them divided up into 2 triple packs instead of all 6 and at $12.99 each. Thanks Target.

Thanks for the prices. I had pre-ordered SNL 4 and Caspian BD from Amazon.

I'm considering the "Home Alone" and "Jingle All the Way" BDs, but at these prices I'll wait for the reviews to see if they're worth it.

According to Amazon it's the 12 disk set!

CORRECTION

almost a bait and switch, in my store they only had them divided up into 2 triple packs instead of all 6 and at $12.99 each. Thanks Target.

Ha, I just went to Best Buy and they price matched the entire set. It was a bit of a struggle. They kept forcing the issue that the online circular for Target says "Stores Only" and for some reason that means it's a door buster sale that Best Buy won't match. I pushed back and went to the store manager, who eventually price matched.

Also, I got the Godfather blu ray set for my Dad. They had to price match it too, since apparently their own sale wasn't in the system. $58 with tax for both sets. Not a bad deal at all!

--Target, this week, is advertising an EXCLUSIVE GIFT with its copies of the Casablanca Ultimate CE. The flyer says nothing more than “Exclusive Gift.” Your guess is as good as mine. Quantity limited. No rainchecks.

You just KNOW that the gift is Market Pantry water, don't you??Posted Image

You got a great deal on the Godfather set. That is supposed to be online only as part for BB's Cyber-Monday sale, so I am surprised they honored that.

TDTESS for me this week, and maybe Wanted, although I wouldn't be surprised to see a price drop on that in the future. Would jump on the Casablanca BD set, but my wallet is tapped for now. Might have to hold off, as there might be something big being released NEXT week....Posted Image

It comes up on their web site as $41.99 without any special mention of an online only sale. You can also do an in-store pick up at that $41.99 too. Still a fantastic sale price, regardless.

I'll be picking up The X-Files: Fight The Future and The X-Files: I Want To Believe on Blu-ray this week. And I'll eventually pick up The Day The Earth Stood Still too.

Thanks for the prices, guys! Posted Image

The Best of Password... interesting. Makes me think there might be a Best of What's My Line someday. I always liked that show.

But anyway, back to the task at hand, I'll have the Shawshank Bluray on my shelf this week come hell or high water. Home Alone and Stranger than Fiction Blurays will probably be a netflix. Oh, and what's the scoop on Casablanca? Is it supposed to look better than the HD DVD that I already have? I'll have to have the SNLs eventually but I'll probably hold off until they release the first five seasons in some sort of box set shaped like the New York skyline.

In any case, thanks guys! Can't wait to see next week's roundup... I bet it will be a particularly Dark edition.

Check out the "What's next for BCI thread" over in TV/Software forum, Greg. There's a fella-in-the-know there named David Levine who is very forthcoming with various old TV projects BCI is working on. I believe What's My Line was recently discussed.

It will be 'dark" indeed, Greg.

Here's one piece of marketing I've been holding onto, but will tease you guys with. No...it's no Market Pantry Water from Target...but maybe the next best thing for those of us with a BJs Wholesale Club nearby! Posted Image

There's Jessie the yodeling cowgirl. Bullseye, he's Woody's horse. Pete the old prospector. And, Woody, the man himself.Of course, it's time for Woody's RoundUp. He's the very best! He's the rootinest, tootinest cowboy in the wild, wild west!
