Hi guys, I'm searching for a new receiver with HDMI inputs. I've been doing some research and have read that certain receivers that allegedly "upscale" non-HD video to near HD quality will actually end up downgrading 1080i and/or 1080p video to 720p if you already have a 1080p tv. For example, I recently read that the Onkyo 705 might do this.

Can anyone tell me which receivers do this and if there is anyway to avoid this if you do buy such a receiver? I am planning to hook my HD cable box (Magnavox box from Comcast) and my PS3 up to my new receiver via the HDMI inputs. I'm then planning to hook the receiver via the HDMI output up to my 1080p plasma. Will this result in a possible downgrade of 1080p and 1080i video from my cable box and/or PS3?

I want to buy a receiver for lossless audio, but I won't do this at the expense of the video quality I get on my tv. Any help you guys can give would be greatly appreciated!
