This is a display model. I decided on a Sony ES model. This does not have the mic, but everything else. It has never been owned but has a few minor cosmetic blemisheswhich can be taken care of. It has some sticker residue on the face. It is more than worthy to be displayed. Comes with detachable power cord, manual, and remote.

$225 obro

Dorian;
What's with the PayPal refund on this? I've got a premier acct., no change on my address for years and paid you seconds after we traded PMs on an agreement.

I'm a little p'ed b/c it puts me in an awkward situation w/out a receiver I need (this particular setup does not use audio from the TV at all), but if you'd have given me a little explanation in an e-mail, PM or the PP refund, I'd understand.

So what gives?

I suppose so.

I'd seen Dorian sell lots of equipment over the years here, but I'm not sure what's going on at this point.

I suppose it's just a case of 'caveat emptor' at this point...

I posted this in his other thread, about the Pioneer receiver. It may be a virus:

I got an email today about a virus. It sounds similar to this not being a valid address for UPS. I checked it out at Snopes.com and according to them, it's a real virus. See here:
snopes.com: http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/ups.asp

The actual email:

Yep, just replied there Ed, thanks.

As I mentioned in the other thread, I could understand that being a possibility once or twice, but there's about 3 or 4 of us now that the 'refund' was issued to with no reason (though Dorian did explain it in one of the folks here).

If it happens that many times, I'd be inclined to check and see if there's something going on (like preparing the shipment online via UPS or FedEx or possibly calling one of their local UPS Store/Kinkos/FedEx stores), three or four times with the same problem is just too often to be coincidence...

Mr. Bryant has been asked to contact the staff. Until he does, he will not be able to read or respond to PMs.

FWIW, I am in charge of operations and shipping for an online retailer. We do not use UPS for outgoing shipments, though most of our incoming ones are by UPS and we receive dozens of shipments per week. There have been no issues with sending by USPS or FedEx, and no issues receiving by UPS. We have also not been notified of any problems. We have experienced no problems verifying addresses. FedEx uses the USPS database for address verification and I presume UPS does as well.

Even if there is a problem with verification, the fact this "Seller" just runs people through hoops, than refunds with zero explanation does not excuse things.

EDIT: Looking at the spam linked above, it has nothing to do with address verification. It is just a phish sent out randomly trying to lure people into clicking the link. I see no reason that would be related to this situation.

Ed, I'm talking about the example of spam you linked to. It has nothing to do with address verification and nothing to do with sending a package. It is just someone sending out spam with a link in it containing a virus. So, while it is a good thing to be aware of, it is not the reason the OP didn't send the items to their buyers. You don't get responses like that when verifying an address for shipment.

Regardless whether the phishing e-mail Ed made reference to was a factor, in my case, PayPal lists mine as a verified address, so that's all that need be done.

As John mentioned, it always good to be aware of stuff like Ed noted, but that's not the case, at least in my scenario... -TD

Sorry to beat a dead horse, but it is quite apparent to me that the email referred to is basically the same as all those "Account Verification Required" phishes sent out at random from "banks" claiming the recipient's account has been hacked and including a link to verify their log-in info. In most cases, the people who receive them don't even have an account with the bank indicated. When they do, it is purely coincidence. It is just a blind attempt to steal money or do other damage. I expect this is the same thing, and has nothing to do with the sales on HTF.

So, I believe Tom is correct.

Anyway, enough said until this issue is addressed directly.

In the Pioneer thread, somebody said something about UPS not being able to verify an address, and returned the shipment (haven't gone back to re-read it). Then I got the email from my uncle. Since the person was dealing online, I thought the virus the email mentioned, and Snopes verified, might have gotten on the guy's computer, and maybe that was part of the problem with the shipping. My mistake, I guess.

As was said, there's no excuse he wouldn't explain himself. All this is just too weird!

The shipment wasn't returned, the item was never shipped. The seller claimed the address wasn't verified by UPS (which seemed viable previously, but has become increasingly suspicious) prior to shipment, so the item wasn't sent.

It appears to me the phish email has no connection to an actual shipment, but that is just my impression. UPS does not send emails like that. When a delivery can't be made due to an unclear or incorrect address, the shipper is notified, not the recipient.

Folks, let's stop speculating. Mr. Bryant will not be posting any more items for sale until he contacts us with an explanation.
