Any reason not to try one of these wide-angle compact PnS camera?

I basically shoot a lot of outdoors and nature landscapes and stuff, during my hiking and climbs and the compact size and wide angle is a huge plus. Certainly not looking over $250 on the street and must be SD-card as a reader.

I just had an Canon SD870 IS which died after 2months of ownership and Canon is denying my warantee so screw them, I had a G3 before my 870IS but you wont find this cat buying canon ever again.

Shutter lag and small sensors scare me away from PnShoots =)

Lugging large PnSs or DSLRs up 14,000ft mountains scare me! :-)
