In order to bring down the terrorist network, Bond must beat Le Chiffre in a high-stakes poker game at Casino Royale. Bond teams with a beautiful treasury official, Vesper Lynd (Green), as he risks millions of Her Majesty’s money, all too aware that should he lose, the funds will strengthen and embolden the very terrorists they hope to stop. As Bond and Vesper survive a series of nearly lethal attacks by Le Chiffre and his henchmen, a mutual affection develops, leading Bond to a terrifying confrontation with his own mortality. Cool. Thanks for posting this. I've been waiting for an official announcement.

Overall, it sounds like a pretty solid release. I'm a bit disappointed that they're not including the uncut version of the film and also that the trailers and tv spots aren't being included.

"uncut" version? I don't remember anything from the SD original release to be missing anything from the theatrical release. I would expect this one to be the theatrical release as well, non?

Looks like I'll be heading off to R3 (or whatever the BD region is out there) to get this then. Thank heavens for multi-region BD players! :-)

US version is cut in the stairwell fight scene to secure a PG-13 rating. Removed was Obanno's henchmen hitting the ground or Obanno crashing into the glass window. Additionally the struggle at the bottom of the stairwell was shortened.

There were also a few shots cut from the black and white bathroom fight at the beginning. There's a little more rough & tumble as Bond and the guy fight and then in the US theatrical version, the movie cuts away from Bond drowning the guy in the sink.

I guess we got a different release in Canada, as I seem to recall those scenes as you describe them. However, I won't swear to it. I'll have to check out my copy of the SD release to be sure.

Is it possible the cuts were put back into the film and it still managed to secure a PG-13 rating? The uncut bonds films on the last box set that was releases on SD-DVDs were uncut and said nothing about it on the box.

Press Release: Casino Royale Collector's Edition
Wouldn't a "collector" already have an "edition" of "CR"?
JJ

(this doesn't bother me cause I haven't purchased this title in any format; tho I do feel bad for those that buy the "CE" in SD now then go HD later, ouch!)
Movies are: "The Greatest Artform".
HD should be for EVERYONE!

I don't mind the new release at all. I picked up the SD version when it first came out. At the time I knew we'd be getting a more elaborate edition when the next 007 flick came out, but I just loved the movie too much to wait for it. When new of this came about a few months ago, I really hoped it'd be released on Blu-Ray as well because it'd be the perfect reason for me to upgrade to Blu-ray.

Sony was very late in getting screeners sent out. Mine arrived a few hours ago and there is now way that I will have time to get through all of the extras and write a review before the release date because I'm leaving for the HTF Hollywood event on Saturday morning.

I'm thinking that I should bring it with me, since we will have a projection room set up and perhaps we'll have a chance to look at it and chime in with comments about it. It is packed with extras, many of them made especially for this edition.
