This news of a French release for Goonies posted over at HighDefDigest just made my day! Posted Image
Warner Readying 'Goonies' for Blu-ray?

Quote:
An overseas website is reporting that Warner has announced a French Blu-ray of 'The Goonies' for this October, fueling speculation that a domestic next-gen release is soon to follow.

According to a report from PlanetaHD, Warner has issued an October 15 Blu-ray release date for the Richard Donner cult classic, even going so far as to release an advert with box art to the overseas trades.

DVD & Blu-ray - It's all about the movies!

I found a copy of the Import BD at a local mom and pop and quickly grabbed it, surprised at how easily available it was. There's something seriously wrong when foreign countries get Blu-rays of our movies long before we do. The good news is I saved about $30 buying this version now as I likely would've sprung for Warner's fancy trinket box in November. Good PQ (not mind-blowing, but good).

The UK disc is the one I found. It was $22.99 - the upcoming Warner box is going to retail for $50 I believe. I also spied a Cinema Paradiso import for about the same price and was tempted to buy it but something tells me there might be a Region 1 BD version of the Limited Edition DVD (both cuts) in the near future so I'll wait.
