Being the sixth film installment based on the novels of Janette Oke, "Love's Unfolding Dream" (which aired on the Hallmark Channel last December) wastes little time with character introductions for newcomers to the series. But given the fairly two-dimensional character renderings, it's not a big problem. Set in the 1890s Colorado Territory, the Tyler family of Anderson Corner embodies the ideals of Christian faith, family and community. Belinda (Scout Taylor-Compton), an adopted daughter of the Tylers, is at the center of the story as she moves towards adulthood, setting her sights on being a physician (much to the chagrin of the town's male doctor) and falling in love with an educated newcomer to the small prairie town. The challenge ultimately comes down to whether Belinda can have both a career in medicine and a marriage. Though it might be tempting to scoff at the sometimes simplistic presentation and resolution of Belinda's conflicts, it's hard to deny the charm of a world so fundamentally uncomplicated. The cynical and the skeptical may want to give it a pass though.

Video Quality: 4/5
The 1.78:1 anamorphic presentation has good contrast, black levels and color. Compression noise can be evident at times, particularly in landscape shots with fine detail. The noise is less noticeable in other scenes, but there is a loss in detail just the same. It's a decent transfer, but it's obvious it could have been better.

Audio Quality: 3/5
The Dolby Digital 2.1 track is front-focused, with no noticeable surround activity. Dialog is clear and intelligible and LFE is non-existent.

Special Features: 1/5

Previews: Trailers for "Mama, I Want to Sing!" and "Garfield Gets Real"
