Just checked out the DVD Beaver site. From the comparison frames, it looks to me like we're in for another disappointment from the Weinsteins: odd color balance and lack of detail – similar to El Cid. On the other hand, they did get the aspect ratio right. It's the same as the original anamorphic 35mm theatrical prints.

I don´t get this. The FOTRE frames on the FOTRE HTF thread look fantastic. The frames on DVDBeaver look just as middling as El Cid on DVDBeaver. Anybody care to comment/investigate? And does each frame grab represent the movie correctly or do they represent the capper´s preferences re: contrast, brightness, color saturation and hue?
