Isn't this just another attempt to get the last ounce of performance out of the regular CD? Didn't JVC already doing it with XRCD?

Little is mention over here of yet another "format" being pushed upon audiophiles over there, the LPCD. This is a "format" widely supported, in place of SACD, by the major music companies (the usual suspects) in Hong Kong. While skeptics, such as myself, say this new "format" is just a CD-R, the music companies there are going full-tilt on releases....with the first Mercury Living Presence title making its debut on LPCD last week.
