The 2008 Film List thread is mainly for discussing, reviewing and tracking 2008 films. The "Track the films you watch" thread is a great place to keep track of all films watched in a year, though any are welcome to track all their film watching here if they so desire.

This is also a great place to discuss smaller release, independent and foreign films that probably won't get a dedicated review and discussion thread.

And this thread is useful for keeping track of what 2008 films you watched when you're compiling an end of year list or a top ten next December.

Pardon me if this seems like a dense question, but what does this thread offer that the "Track the Films You Watch in XXXX" thread does not? Everything mentioned in the first post is in that thread, and it gets far more posts.

AFAIK, this thread is strictly for tracking and discussing 2008 releases as opposed to the other thread where you keep track of all films you watch during the year.

That makes sense, Greg. I don't personally care about keeping 2008 in one place apart from other years' films, but I can see where other people would.

I've always found this thread far more useful, especially if I want to get a good idea of what movies have come out recently that I should add to my list of films to see. The other thread is far too large and unwieldy to get any pertinent information out of and frankly I've always thought it was a bit boastful - the 'Look how many movies I can watch in 1 year' thread.
