There will be an upset of a favorite.
A 'role player' will make a name for himself.
People will bitch that the first round is on TBS and their TV provider doesn't have TBS-HD

10:00 pm ET: CHI @ ARI (Game 2)

Friday, October 5th
5:00 pm ET: NYY @ CLE (Game 2)
8:30 pm ET: LAA @ BOS (Game 2)

Saturday, October 6th
6:00 pm ET: ARI @ CHI (Game 3)
9:30 pm ET: PHI @ COL/SD winner (Game 3)

10:00 pm ET: PHI @ COL/SD (Game 4, if necessary)

Monday, October 8th
6:00 pm ET: CLE @ NYY (Game 4, if necessary)
9:30 pm ET: BOS @ LAA (Game 4, if necessary)
If only one game will be played on Monday, then game time shifts to 7:30 pm ET.

Tuesday, October 9th
6:30 pm ET: COL/SD winner @ PHI (Game 5, if necessary)
10:00 pm ET: CHI @ ARI (Game 5, if necessary)
If only one game will be played on Tuesday, then game time shifts to 8:30 pm ET.

Wednesday, October 10th
5:00 pm ET: NYY @ CLE (Game 5, if necessary)
8:30 pm ET: LAA @ BOS (Game 5, if necessary)
If only one game will be played on Wednesday, then game time shifts to 8:30 pm ET.

The above is the national broadcast schedule for the American League and National League Division Series. TBS will telecast all Division Series games with ESPN Radio providing national coverage.

TBS also will televise tonight's National League Wild Card tie-breaking game between the San Diego Padres and the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field in Denver, as will ESPN Radio. The TBS broadcast will begin at 7:30 p.m. (ET)/5:30 p.m. (MT) and the game's first pitch is scheduled for 7:37 p.m. (ET)/5:37 p.m. (MT).

Please note that Game 4 of the National League Division Series between the Chicago Cubs and the Arizona Diamondbacks, scheduled for Sunday, October 7th, will be televised on TNT. All other games will be carried by TBS. In the event of overlapping games, TBS will cover the ongoing game until its conclusion while TNT will televise the start of a new game. At the conclusion of the game, coverage will shift from TNT to TBS.

============================

I have this gut feeling I'm going to be doing a share of complaining over these series about the quality of the broadcasting on TBS. I hope I'm wrong about that.

I see an allotted time of 3 and a half hours between games. Another prediction:
There will be A LOT of overlap when Yankee games are involved. Posted Image

Cox is adding TBS HD on the 3rd. Lots of companies are adding it. I'll remain optimistic about the TBS crew. They can't be any worse than the crew Fox has.

I'll wait until later to make picks but I'm leaning towards the Angels over the Cubs.

I have TBS-HD now? Sweet!

They're employing Orsillo? Less sweet.

I'm also liking the Sox generally having the less sucky times than the Yankees. I'm only going to have to rush home from work once. Posted Image

Anyway, my guesses:

Sox in 4
Indians in 5
Cubs in 4
Wild Card in 5

Although the NL seems really up for grabs - none of those teams are really great compared to the AL.

The Red Sox say Wakefield won't be on the DS roster. Bad back.

=====================

I'll take the Cubs and Phillies in the NLDS Series.

I'll take the Sox & Yanks in the ALDS Series (although the Indians intrigue me).

I'll take the Red Sox over the Cubs in the Series.

Did Bud Selig have a private conference with David Stern? This playoff schedule has too many breaks. When teams in the regular season play a series, they don't stop and have days off after 2 games. A 5 game series does not require 2 off days. In the case of Angels-Sox, they have:

game
off day
game
off day
game
game
off day
game

Is that really necessary? Obviously TV ratings matter to the sport, but this kind of scheduling in the NBA hasn't worked. It's caused people to watch, get excited about a game, and then forget that the playoffs are on.
