Hello,

I was hoping some of you may be able to help me please...

I just reached for my "AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON" HD-DVD Combo disc to watch. When I got the disc out of the case I noticed that the HD-DVD side was all "cloudy". I mean the entire disc had a cloudy appearance WITHIN the disc. I gently wiped the disc centre-to-edge with a soft cloth and it made no difference to the appearance of the disc. I tried to play the disc and it would freeze and stutter. I know that I played this disc fine when I purchased it (Dec 2006) and put it away on my DVD rack afterwards where it has remained til tonight. My room is dry and of a suitable temperature. I am confused and a bit worried about this. What shall I do?

This is kind what it looks like...

Not good!

Could this happen to other discs? Have you had other "issues" like this with discs of yours? I also notice that the INSIDE of some of the disc cases are a little "cloudy". Is this normal?

Please let me know if you have seen anything like this yourself. Thanks!

Just checked the very few Combo's I own and no cloudiness with mine. It might just be a bad pressing like the overblown BD measle issue from a few months ago.

I'd contact Universal for a replacement.

I tell you guys this is why i gave up on DVD-18s and would shy away from ANY combo disc or flipper no matter the format. They do not have this double sided disc routine licked! The more layers these things have the more chance of errors, and manufacturing flaws. norris i bet money yours is not the first or last to "rot".

Thanks. I will do. I got Universal's number from the "Children Of Men" thread. However, what is the betting that they don't want to help me as I am not in the U.S. even though I have the U.S. produced disc?

My Fast and the Furious was the same way and had trouble playing. I replaced it with another copy which does not have the cloudiness.

Disc cleaning, professional buffing. Comes off in 10 seconds. Simple surface oxidation occurs if you leave a disc in storage for a while. Microscopic mould.

Try video stores. Professional machines used properly leave no buffing marks.
