Interesting.

I wonder whether the deleted scenes will be worked back into the movie to form an extended cut? I hope so!

With just a couple of featurettes on the original disc, this was kind of obvious from the beginning, but still infuriating as unnecessary double dips like this always are.

I suppose this was quite predictable. I hope they include the theatrical trailers, teasers and TV spots - they were noticably absent on the last DVD.

I'm still hoping for a Blu-Ray box set containing all 21 films - but I think I'd need to re-mortgage the house first.

Yes, why do you hope so?
Do you think that inserting deleted scenes will improve the film somehow?

I don't think an extended cut is necessary, but I wouldn't mind seeing them release the uncut version in R1 (in the US & the UK, the opening bathroom fight and stairway fight were trimmed for violence).

There's never been a full-blown alternate cut of any Bond film ever.

The differences that do exist among the previous films are a result of trims being made for the UK, DVD authoring mistakes (like the missing footage in OHMSS on the 2000 SE release) etc.

Also, of all the Bond movies "Casino Royale" is arguably the one that needs to be messed with the least.

I think there are people who like to see the longest, most "complete" cut of a film possible as opposed to seeing the film with the edits and omissions carefully chosen by the director and editor. I can personally only think of a handful of deleted scenes that I believe should have been restored, and I imagine that if there was a substantial amount of footage deleted from "Casino Royale" it probably deserved to not make it into the movie.

If they had to cut some violence to get a PG-13, then I wouldn't mind an extended cut featuring only what they cut to get the desired rating. Of course with most "unrated" rereleases, they'll probably just restore a bunch of useless scenes cut for good reason, and use the unrated moniker to make consumers think they'll be getting a more violent and/or more sexy version.

Also, the 2006 License to Kill rerelease has violent shots restored - Leiter's bloody stump, Krest's head exploding that weren't in the U.S. theatrical cut. Strange that it still says it's PG-13 though. Did they resubmit it?

The only cut that I think a lot of people would like to see re-inserted is the jump cut at the end of From Russia With Love, but I digress off-topic.

They could cut the Miami airport interlude out of CASINO ROYALE to save time. It's irrelevant and it serves no storytelling purpose. It's just an excuse to insert some action that is imitative of the Bourne films.

I was under the impression that the US version had the trims you mentioned, but the UK version did not. However, the UK version had the torture scene trimmed I believe. I don't think putting out a version with both trims would be enough to call it an "extended" cut, but it would be nice to see nonetheless.

The close-up shot of the rope on Bond's shoulder (replaced by a wide shot) is the only thing cut from the UK version.

The UK release also doesn't have the shot of the henchman hitting the bottom of the stairwell.

I wasn't too sure about the UK version, though I had heard it was cut I wasn't positive if they were the same cuts. So thanks to everyone for clearing that up. :)

I'm ill at the moment, I should have made myself a bit clearer.

I love the film as is, but I would like to some of the deleted scenes put back in the movie via seamless branching, I mean I already own the original DVD, so to make me double dip they'll have to do something like that. :)
