The Fly (1958) really needs a new, cleaner, less grainy and more detailed transfer.

It appears that the set will also have a fourth disc that contains bonus features.

From DVD Drive-In:

Correspondent David Del Valle has informed DVD Drive-In that he has just moderated an audio commentary with actor David Hedison for THE FLY, as part of Fox’s upcoming “The Fly Collection” (release date: Sept. 11) which will also include THE RETURN OF THE FLY and CURSE OF THE FLY, the latter for the first time on DVD. According to Del Valle, “David Hedison was in fine form for the duration of the taping. He had not seen the film for years so it was a fresh approach for him and he had fun with it. It was interesting to watch him look at himself as he appeared on film half a century ago.” So far, we have been told that the fourth disc in this set will include two new featurettes, one on the making of the “Fly” movies and one about Vincent Price, and they will contain new interviews with Hedison, RETURN OF THE FLY star Brett Halsey, Del Valle and Don Glut. Speaking of David Hedison, if you haven’t already heard, Fox will be releasing a special edition of Irwin Allen’s THE LOST WORLD on the same date of 9/11. More details on that to follow. Be sure to check out Del Valle’s “Camp David” column at www.filmsinreview.com.
