Starting back in November I watched all of both Buffy and Angel, and I was kind of surprised to find that I think, taking both series into consideration, my favorite, or at least most interesting character of all time is Darla (Julie Benz). There were a number of great characters in those, though. Willow, Cordelia, Faith, Wesley and Tera are also faves. They had great extended character arcs you have to see the entirety of to appreciate. To me, the least interesting were Buffy and Angel. How's that for irony?

Second place goes to another character who spilled over into another (in this case unrelated one, storywise) series, and that's Miles Drentell (David Clennen) from Thirtysomething and Once & Again.

The Hybrid System

The Music Part: Emotiva XSP-1, Thiel CS 3.6, Emotiva XPA-2, Marantz SA8004, Emotiva ERC-3, SVS PB-12 Plus 2

The Surround Part: Sherbourn PT-7030, Thiel SCS3, Emotiva XPA-5, Polk & Emotiva Surrounds.

I watched MacGyver for almost the entire run and I never knew he had a first name either. Angus?

Can't believe I forgot Alex P. Keaton. That was my favorite show when it was on. Good call Carl.

I can't remember what The Equalizer's name was, but I'd put him on my list too.

re: Firefly, I can't decide who my favorite character is. It's too hard to pick a favorite.

Great characters later ruined: I loved the originally concepted Buffy S2 Spike. He was later "evolved" and neutered beyond recognition

Ditto Johnny Sack from S4 (or was it 5?) of The Sopranos. The best male opposition Tony ever had. Of course Chase has him imprisoned marginalizing the character, and then kills him off.

Neither of these are among my favorite shows, but I always liked the characters. First, the template for nearly all sitcom supporting stars ever to come:

Ed Norton - The Honeymooners - Art Carney

And, just a well crafted lead character, with quirks, motivations, and a true rapport with the audience:

Fox Mulder - The X Files - David Duchovny
