Individual titles included in box sets listed above:

George Eliot Collection: Middlemarch, Daniel Deronda, Silas Marner, Adam Bede, The Mill on the Floss.

The Disclaimer Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

"LP" in the RoundUp table means a store’s Sunday flyer says "Low Price". That means I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, as always, Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

The Specials

**BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL! Freedom Writers AND The Last King of Scotland AND Smokin’ Aces are ALL available in both OAR and MAR versions...get the correct one(s)!

--I had to put this week’s RoundUp to bed a little earlier than usual this week…so some of the prices may wind up being adjusted by the retailers closer to release date. Thanks to Patrick Sun (as usual) for helping me out!

--Two unusual discrepancies this week involve Circuit City’s prices on Freedom Writers and The Venture Brothers: Season 2. The posted on-line prices are actually lower than the expected Sunday flyer prices. It is often the other-way-around…but the on-line prices will be adjusted come release day to reflect the flyer price. This time: Freedom Writers is $17.99 on-line and $19.99 in the flyer. Venture Brothers: Season 2 is $19.99 on-line and $22.99 in the flyer. I have posted the flyer price in the table on the outside chance the B&M stores may not honor the on-line price.

--Amazon.com is still having a BIG SALE!

--At Best Buy…purchase Smokin’ Aces on DVD and get a free Smokin’ Aces deck of cards. Minimum 10 per store. No rain checks.

--A fairly underwhelming offer from Best Buy this week: Save $10 when you buy the following three new releases: The Last King of Scotland ($17.99), The History Boys ($19.99, Notes on a Scandal ($19.99). Must be purchased on same receipt. In other words, you MUST buy ALL THREE movies in order to get a $3.33 discount on each. Not bad…IF you want all three films.

--Best Buy Odds and Ends: BB has lists of DVDs on sale for $7.50 and $9.99 apiece.

--Circuit City is offering an EXCLUSIVE FREE SET OF FIVE SPIDER-MAN POSTCARDS with the purchase of Spider-Man 2.1 on DVD. ”Watch Corbin Bleu on his journey from actor to pop star.”

--Circuit City also has an eerily similar (to Best Buy) deal on those same three new releases: The Last King of Scotland ($17.99), The History Boys ($19.99), Notes on a Scandal ($19.99). Buy ANY TWO of the three and save $10…OR…buy ALL THREE TITLES and save $15. Must be purchased on same receipt. More flexibility (and a better deal) with $10 off on just two movies…AND a better deal on the “buy all three” purchase.

--Circuit City Odds and Ends: Circuit City has lists of titles on sale for $9.99 and $14.99…but they are Buy One, Get One Free! CC also has a list of $8.99 DVDs which includes some nice titles like each volume of Kill Bill, Sin City, Pulp Fiction, Batman Begins, Clerks & Who Framed Roger Rabbit?

--Quiet week from Target after their “week off” with no Sunday flyer. No “Specials” or “Exclusive Deluxe Editions” this week.

Thanks as always Mike & Patrick.

I'm considering The Last King of Scotland.

I'm a little surprised that there is no mention of any Movie Cash / Tickets for Spiderman 3 with the purchase of Spiderman 2.1. I was kind of expecting that at least one of the big retailers, if not all, would have some type of free ticket promotion with Spiderman 2.1. Then again, it's not like Spiderman 3 is going to need any help at the box office. I would have picked up Spiderman 2.1 if I could have scored a free ticket to Spiderman 3, but since it doesn't look like that's going to happen, I'm going to pass.

Thanks Mike and Patrick!

This is a slow week for me. I picked up Spiderman 2.1 at Wallyworld last week with their exclusive Spiderman 3 "bonus disc." For $12.88, I can't complain. I am such a Spidey geek. This is a triple dip for me. And, amazingly, although the new cut only adds 8 minutes to the original, it makes for a very satisfying alternate version of Spiderman 2, that IMO, is superior to the original. As always, YMMV, but for a straight up money-grab (which this obviously is) you can do a lot worse.

I am tempted to get the Larry Sanders (not the) Best of, but I may wait to pick it up until I can find a better deal.

Thanks Mike & Patrick for all your great work! Very much appreciated.

The Larry Sanders Show is my big score -- too bad they're not doing full seasons... This is one of my Top 10 favs. If this sells well enough, we can hope to see more!

Also, good price on the Kill Bills -- just having seen Grindhouse, I'm in the mood for more Tarantino!

Nothing for me this week. (I'm broke after "Going to Town" on DDD's Paramount Sale last week!) :D

Thanks, Mike and Patrick. I may pick up Smokin Aces as a blind buy but, other than that, nothing this week.

A couple of Netflix movies but not much else. So much the better since June is starting to get VERY crowded. :)

I'll see what I can do about prices for Target tonight (I work overnight there)

I know we have art up in store for Larry Sanders, George Lopez, History Boys, and Family.

If there are any good prices, I'll report back

Appreciate the info, Mike and Patrick! Just some award-winning Broadway for me this week in the film adaptation of The History Boys. Then I'm saving my pennies for next week's HD release of Planet Earth!

Just got back from Target, but no real exciting non-ad prices:
Family: $9.99
Not Just The Best...: $39.99
George Lopez: $32.99
History Boys: $19.99

I remember seeing a few eps of Larry Sanders...not sure if it was at a friend's house or were there ever syndicated eps shown? I'll probably Netflix them under a better deal comes along if I really enjoy it.

 Thanks, Eric. I think it just goes to show that it's a pretty slow week. ;) If The Last King of Scotland wasn't sitting out there...it would be deadly.
