Digital Video Essentials - HD DVD Delayed again per an Amazon.com E-mail.

According to my E-mail, the Digital Video Essentials HD-DVD order, I originally placed on October 9, 2006, will be delayed until May 16, 2007.

The disc was first to be released November 14, 2006. From then it was delayed to November 30. When that date passed, the delay was set to February 27, 2007 and then again to March 27th, 2007.:rolleyes

Sure would like to know what is going on with this 1080P system calibration disc!

I've cancelled my long standing pre-order for this item. Its a shame they can't get their act together. Didn't something very similar happen to Digital Video Essentials also?

It's compatibility issues and authoring issues that have held it up.

Movies have moving pictures ... a test disc like this has still frames. That has been one of the challenges.

Ditto for linkage issues between frames ... far more complex than a typical film disc.

When it costs you $125K to author a disc and those that author it won't give any guarantee that it will work on the next generation of players ... I would be hesitant too.

Yup.....and IIRC they kept saying that the delays were because they were really trying to make the original DVE into an easy to use set-up disc.

Of course, while the test patterns were OK (well, the video tests anyway...forget about the defective sub woofer tracks) we all know what a navigational train wreck it was.

I read a post at AVS that said there was going to be an Avia II in a month. I have not googled, but does anyone know anything about that?
