This year is the 50th anniversary of Kubrick's early masterpiece, 'Paths Of Glory'. I hope MGM have plans to release a new special edition to mark the occasion. The existing DVD leaves a lot to be desired, especially the thin harsh audio quality. Has anyone heard any rumours about a possible SE?

UCLA recently restored this film from the original 35mm negative, original soundtrack negative, an original 35mm fine-grain positive, and Kubrick's personal 35mm print. The restoration prints are hard-matted to 1.66:1 and meant to be projected at 1.85:1 (according to UCLA's listing here).

Been waiting for years, it's certainly worthy of revisiting...

I recently watched the current Paths of Glory DVD, and it definitely needs improvement. Lots of distracting edge enhancement. I also wouldn't mind a 1.66:1 or 1.85:1 AR for a new release, as I zoomed in the fullscreen DVD to a 16:9 AR and the framing looks fine to me.

Just found out: http://www.criterion...-paths-of-glory I'm jumping for joy!  This is great.  I've waited and waited and waited to get Paths of Glory and my wait has finally paid off. It's coming to Blu-ray from Criterion Collection!!! They've uploaded the movie trailer.  Check it out!
