David B, will you be providing a review of the above title? Your Platinum reviews are always incredibly informative.

I'm not David, but David Boulet is not reviewing titles for the HTF anymore. I believe MattH is the current Disney reviewer.

It seems likely that there will be some issue with the disc that sends people into a frenzy.

Hey, Matt:

If I am sent a review copy of the new PETER PAN, I will most certainly review it, and as I have the last special edition, would love to do a comparison. However, Disney has not been forthcoming with much lately.

I am making screencaps comparing all 4 video releases: 1991 Laserdisc, 1998 Laserdisc/1999 DVD [same transfer], 2002 DVD, and the 2007 DVD. I have them all ready from the prior releases. I'm just waiting on the 2007 disc to arrive to complete things.

I am curious as to whether or not this edition ports the audio commentary from the last edition, or whether, like the "Dumbo" spuper-duper-"special" edition, they have left it off.

To those who got it early... how does it look and sound? DVDTalk has a review up but they tend to be very undetailed in their reviews.

I'm afraid to buy this after that farce release of "The Little Mermaid." Thanks for any info on "Peter Pan."

Here is a review of the latest release of Peter Pan from Home Theater Spot. I think that overall they like the effort Disney has put in to this release.

That's a much better sell to me on buying this release. The biggest thing I'm afraid of is the issues that "The Little Mermaid" had like the overall color inconsistancy. That is just unexcuseable for a major release like that from Disney - regardless if they plan on releasing it in the future on Bluray they still should treat SD-DVD owners with the utmost respect when it comes to a quality product. After all, they are making a LOT more money from us SD-DVD owners (and will be for a long time) than either HD disc format.

Excellent! A rebuy for me and freebie "hand me down" to the sis and newphew who won't notice the difference.

Paramount, please release DRAGONSLAYER on Blu-ray

Who's that? Hehe, I just go look at the "Video & Audio" comments. Never actually looked at the reviewers name.

BTW: Also, UltimateDisney.com has it's review up.

Sounds fantastic! The only things missing from this release are trailers and the hour long promo Christmas special.

Same here. The only release I've owned is the 1999 Limited Issue release so this Platinum release has to be an improvement. Looking at the caps on DVDTalk and UltimateDVD the skintones on this Peter Pan: Platinum edition look much better than the dull, muted looking skintones on the Cinderella: Platinum release (which really bugs me) which I'm very happy about. Well, here are screenshots from the 2007 PETER PAN SE compared to the other 3 video releases. They are in this order: 1991 Laserdisc, 1997 Laserdisc/1999 "Limited Issue" DVD [same transfer], 2002 SE DVD, and now the 2007 SE DVD.

Is it me, or is this film looking worse and worse.... Check out how the red of Hook's jacket and the red of Tinkerbell's lips (in the shot where she is glowing red and angry) was once bright and saturated and is now rather dark and muddy.

We cannot judge these screenshots without without knowing more about the equipment they were produced with. The colour and greyscale of the display could be completely off.

No offense, Chuck, but are you sure those screencaps are in the right order? Based on those, it appears the new 2007 transfer is markedly inferior to the 2002....
