Looks like the date is set for March 27, 2007 for one of the best films of 2006 to arrive on HD DVD. (To me, it's the best film of the year :))...

Not much is known just yet regarding extras but I'm just excited to get the film!

I agree with the best film of the year bit. I regard it as an 07 film even though it was a limited release last year. Last year's best picture was The Departed.

In addition, it has a MSRP of 34.99. Not bad for a day for date release and a Combo on top of it.

This was one of my favourite films of recent times. I will be picking this one up on HD-DVD the moment it is released. Excellent news!

Given the film's excellent sound design, it would have been great to have a TrueHD track. But that is a minor concern. I'm just very, very happy to have an HD edition coming at the end of next month. :)

I will not buy any HD-DVD that is a combo so this one's off my list. I'm sure glad Blu-ray has not gone this route.

I'm actually kinda happy this is a combo, thanks to the lowered price. I have many friends and relatives who have yet to discover this movie who I can lend it to thanks to the SD side. I had the same experience with Slither. So long as they make the price more reasonable (like closer to 34.99 and 29.99), I really don't have an issue with combos.

Exactly....and Children of Men won't be on Blu Ray Ron.

If it's a pricing issue, then here's some quick facts: Amazon is currently selling the March release Blu Ray title Casino Royale for $27.25. The Good Shepherd (HD DVD Combo) is $27.95....and you get the flexibility of having both SD and HD sides.

Following recent pricing, CoM should be even less $$ since it's retail is $34.95.

Yep. Fox and Disney stick a 40.00 dollar price tag on their releases. For 5 bucks more, you get less. Don't we have enough anti-Combo threads already?

Mine! Loved the film in theaters, don't have HD capability yet but will still be able to enjoy the SD DVD side. It's a win-win for me.

While I'm not wild about the concept of these "combo discs", I won't harp on that much here. But I just needed to say that the name sounds terrible. Every time I hear it I'm reminded of a "combo meal" at a fast food place.

But I'm really looking forward to seeing this. I missed it in the theaters. I could probably still find it playing somewhere, but seeing as how the HD DVD will probably give me an overall better presentation at home I'm fine waiting until next month.

No reservations making a blind buy of the HD DVD for this one.

If this was a WB title and a combo, then I'd go for the BD even though I don't have my player yet (like what I'm doing with The Departed), but since this is a Universal film I know it ain't coming to BD anytime soon. In that case I won't let the combo meal version of the disc keep me away.

If this sold for C$25 then I would consider it. However, in Canada, this is probably going to sell for closer to 40 dollars. I'll ignore it at that price range, because the movie really wasn't that good.

Not going to be buying too many of those as well. There's no justification for that pricing at all, none.

I also feel that this was the best film of 2006, so I'd buy it at any price. :) I just wish they used the original poster art for the cover then that goofy image they went with.

Agreed. The original poster was far, far superior to this. Oh well, it could come in a soup can and I'd still be dropping money for it. One of the reasons I'm glad I'm in the HD-DVD camp right now!

I already 'experienced' this film in the theatre and immediately wanted to watch it again.
There is that scene which Tim Glover has been using as his signature, and it's one of the most memorable and moving moments in recent movie history that I can remember.
