The fact that the TV theme song is being pushed out to make more room for commercials, I thought I would give you all the chance to list some of your favorites. Some of mine would include...

The Rockford Files

Taxi

Barney Miller

Thanks,

EJ

I love the music from Will & Grace...sorta reminds me of the Vince Guaraldi Charlie Brown scores a bit.

I also enjoy the themes from:

Wings
Futurama
La Femme Nikita
Silk Stalkings
Alien Nation
Hercules
Xena
Renegade
Psych (too short!)
Star Trek - TOS
The X-Files
Emergency!
Rockford
The A-Team
Bonanza
WKRP

EDIT - Oops! Forgot one of the absolute best: M*A*S*H

There's no doubt in my mind that Hawaii Five-O is the best opening sequence ever created. To this day, when I'm re-watching an episode on Tivo, I never fail to watch the song in its entirety.

I also have to second the nomination for Cheers. Maybe it was just the anticipation of knowing a great show was coming, but I'll always fondly remember hearing that song on Thursday nights.

And my honorable mention goes to The Beverly Hillbillies.

I actually rather like the Law & Order theme. And it's interesting how they've managed to create interesting, yet different, riffs of it for SVU and CI.

And how about that hoary old chestnut, LA Law? That trumpet riff followed by a heavy opening beat that coincides with the trunk of the car slamming shut, displaying the custom license plate?

Wild Wild West
The Flash
Batman: The Animated Series
Superman: The Animated Series
Bring back John Doe! Or at least resolve the cliff-hanger with a 2hr movie or as an extra on a dvd release.

WKRP in Cincinatti
with a special shout out to the rockin closing credits theme.
(meow)

I was born in 1970, so Taxi hit its stride during my pre-teen years. And as anyone from my era remembers, Taxi was on at 9:30 pm. Well, hearing that smooth flute intro was the sound of bedtime for me. There was something so mystically adult about that show but that theme song was and still is a haunting reminder of my bewilderment of the adult world. Funny how music can do that !
A new life awaits you in the off-world colonies, the chance to begin again in a golden land of opportunity and adventure.

Let's Go . . . To the colonies !

Another vote here for Barney Miller & Taxi.

What about the ever popular "Suicide is Painless"
MASH

I'm a ****ing idiot 'cause I can't make a lamp?
No, you're a genius 'cause you can't make a lamp.
What do you know about trigonometry?
I could care less about trigonometry.
Did you know without trigonometry there would be no engineering? Without lamps there'd be no light.
