I need to extend existing speaker wire in new media room renovation. What is the best way to splice speaker wire to reduce introducing a noise in the signal or loss of signal... Thanks, REX

You can get away with murder on speaker wire . . . . just use wire nuts if you are in a hurry. My favorite method is to separate the two leads, then cut one lead about 2-3 inches longer than the other. Strip the wire back, intertwine the strands with the next wire, twist it all together and tape the heck out of it. Do the same with the other pair, but with the joint staggered off the other way. then tape over the whole joint. You'll have a joint that doesn't "bump out" too much.
