Do DVD region codes still apply on Blu-Ray Player? So if I have a standard region 1 dvd, would it work on a region 4 blu-ray disc player?

I just ordered up the Samsung player, out of the box it's region free. There is a firmware update for it to fix some PQ issues and DTS issues, if done it will also region code the player. As for other players I do not know.

For SD its region locked. BR is technically region locked as well but many are finding the movies to not matter yet.

Players are region coded..... Sd discs will not play out of region. Most BR-D are not region coded yet.... But some are.... If you search, there is a list of those that will play out of region. Dugger
