In order of merit:

1.FABIOLA (1949) ***1/2
2.THE IRON CROWN (1941) ***1/2
3.LA CENA DELLE BEFFE (1942) ***
4.FOUR STEPS IN THE CLOUDS (1942) ***
5.1860 (1934) ***
6.LES QUATRES VERITES (1962) *** [part]

I also have NESSUNO TORNA INDIETRO (1945), FATHER’S DILEMMA (1950), TOO BAD SHE’S BAD (1954) and LUCKY TO BE A WOMAN (1956) on VHS.

Blasetti is one of the pioneers of Italian cinema and as such should be much better known; unfortunately, as far as I know, very little (if anything) of his work is available abroad. In particular, FABIOLA is arguably one of the finest epics dealing with the Roman Empire ever made anywhere in the world and I was lucky enough to tape a two-part TV screening of the restored edition of the film…which occurred while I was abroad in London some 4 years ago!

Gloria, I'm currently unable to convert VHS-to-VHS or even VHS-to-DVD-R but I will see if a like-minded local friend of mine will help me out in this matter. The only thing is that he's abroad right now...
