In order of merit:

1.PHARAOH (1966) ***

I've only watched a heavily-trimmed, English-dubbed version of this epic but it was impressively spectacular nevertheless.

The only other two of his films I'm aware of are MOTHER JOAN OF THE ANGELS (1961) - a Cannes Film Festival Award winner and an earlier film version of the events narrated so hysterically by Ken Russell in his most controversial work, THE DEVILS (1971) - and the reportedly disastrous Italian-made MADDALENA (1971).

The former has been released on R2 DVD earlier this year but the video quality is apparently barely servicable; however, it seems that Facets will be bring their own edition out on R1 in 2007.

Mario, the R1 Mother Joan DVD from Facets has been available since April...and I could have sworn that SteveGon had seen it and even wrote about it here on the HTF Posted Image

Thanks, Bill. The utter lack of online reviews of the R1 Facets disc made me think that it was still upcoming. I don't need to be convinced of the film's worth so I'll ask you about the video/audio quality: is it worth $18?

Mario, the audio/video quality of the R1 edition is pretty similar to that of the R2 disc seen here: http://www.dvdbeaver....dvd_review.htm

Whether that's worth $18, is up to you...
