I just received a DVD where the plastic holders that hold the dvd's have come detached from the paper case. It's the Smallville style case that's sort of book-like. I don't want to damage the paper with too strong of a glue or a glue that might bleed through. Thanks for your help.

I have used a hot glue gun with good results.

my Smallville season 2 had one of those come off as well. Don't have a hotglue gun. Anyone think it would be a bad idea to use "superglue"?

Superglue probably isn't a good idea- it has a tendency to absorb into paper. Duco cement might be better- but I'd test it out on something else first. A hot glue gun is also a good idea- and the guns are pretty inexpensive, but I'd test that out too before using on the DVD case.
