Howdy. I thought I'd drop this in this forum for the heck of it. My main question and answer (me asking the questions, others giving answers) thread is here at AVS.

To summarize
TC Sounds TC-1000 12" SVC
TC Sounds 15" TCVMP Passive Radiator
500w BASH amp from PE. Modified to 3dB bass boost as follows:
Boost Freq: 25-30hz
Filter Fc: 18.7hz
Filter Q: 1.3

Gross Internal volume
3.96 ft^3

Deductions
Internal Amp Enclosure -0.068 ft^3
Bracing -0.077 ft^3
Driver -0.09 ft^3
Passive Radiator -0.06 ft^3

Net Internal Volume
3.665 ft^3

The box is built, primed and painted. I'm going to top it off with some EnviroTex Lite pour-on high gloss finish. Anyone ever use that? It's mainly for the sides, as I'm going to top this with a slab of marble (will be an end-table).

Have a look. I'd appreciate any comments or suggestions.

looks like a nice job to me!

Interested in two things:

1) what does the combination model like... what performance are you expecting?

2) once you're done, two things: did it meet your expectations? How did your finish work out. I've never heard of that particular finish, and I'm interested in how it worked out.

I'm actually pretty inexperienced with Unibox. This is my first DIY sub (or any speaker) project. I've had a lot of design help from the AVS members and some of the techs at TC Sounds.

I don't think it's been modeled with my current net volume. I was shooting for 3.2 ft^3 - but ended up a bit over. I can always fill up the extra volume if it doesn't perform well enough (if I took a 32"x32" square of 3/4" inch MDF and cut it up in a way that I could fit in into the box, it would land me at 3.22 ft^3), but I've been told that it might be just fine. I can always tweak the mass on the PR to get the tune I want.

If you want to model it, I'd be happy to hear what you think. All the details can be found within my thread at AVS. The link to which can be found in my first post.

Thanks.

It looks like word is finally starting to get around on the TC Sounds products. They've come out with the dB-500, which is an ultra bang for the buck 10" driver based on the same motor as the TC-1000, but with a stamped frame and coated paper/kevlar cone instead of the aluminum. At just $99, I feel the bug biting. Too bad there's no one else around me that I can coerce into having me build them a subwoofer. It seems like TC Sounds is positioning themselves to be a subwoofer DIYer's best friend.
