In December the "Debbie Does Dallas: Ultimate Edition" and "The Devil in Miss Jones" are being released. Does anyone have any info on this titles in their new release form? Differences? I see one vendor has both in one pack but do not think they are the ones coming out next month.

And no, I'm not a porn addict. Would just like to have these 2 titles for my library. Wish they would do something with "Deep Throat" though.

And yes, I do own porn, but I'm just not accustomed to seeing a thread about it at HTF. :D

It's just odd.....you know I don't think my copy of Behind The Green Door has the proper aspect ratio......damn these DVD studios!! ;)

Didn't mean to start up any thread about "naughty bits". Just curious about these re-issues and what they had to offer over the originals.

These are coming out from Media Blasters under their Raincoat Theater label. They released Babylon Pink under this label last year. Here's some old info on the titles.

Devil in Miss Jones
SRP: $29.95
Actual Cost: $20.99 (Amazon)
Runtime: 68 min
Status: Uncut
Date: October 31, 2006

Plot: Sexually frustrated, disillusioned and in her mid-30s, Justine Jones (the incomparable Georgina Spelvin) decides suicide is her only escape. Too sinful for Heaven and too chaste for Hell, she’s returned to earth where she must rethink her existence. Given a second chance at life, she chooses Hell as her ultimate destination and opts for a life of unbridled lust and sexual depravity!

Additional Info: Featuring a newly remastered transfer, the set promises lots of extras including a commentary with director Gerard Damiano and an interview with Georgina Spelvin. It spans 2 discs.

Debbie Does Dallas
SRP: $29.95
Actual Cost: $26.99
Runtime: 80 minutes
Status: Uncut

Plot: Beautiful young Debbie Benton (Bambi Woods) wants to audition for a spot on the “Texas Cowgirl” cheerleading squad. But she doesn’t have enough money to get there and her family isn’t willing. So she and her friends devise a plan to raise the money themselves. They soon realize there’s a lot of money to be made by performing sexual favors for men. Additional Info: No actual specs have been revealed yet, but the porn classic will feature a newly remastered transfer and loads of extras. Single disc set.

Ok, in the spirit of helping out fellow HTF members I decided to stop all the smileys and go a googling...here's what I found:
Media Blasters is starting a new line called "Raincoat Theater" for "classic" adult titles and their first releases will be Debbie DD and The Devil in Miss Jones, both to be released on 12/05/06.

The Info can be found HERE (unlike AndrewR's info above they claim that no titles have been released under the Raincoat Theater label as yet....but whatever, it is Media Blasters so these could be good or pure crap but certainly better than the quality of most 70's "Classic Porn" that is out there I'm sure.)

It's a shame that it is Media Blasters, makers of the notoriously bad "Shriek Show" (some fans call them Shit Show) discs. It's not like Blue Underground hasn't tackled hardcore material before; they really should be doing this kind of work.

Still, despite Media Blaster's prior works, I'm sure they will still put more effort into these than the average adult video company would. I wonder if any of the (surviving) cast members want to do an audio commentary. Can you image? "Oh yeah, this shot on the pool table was especially uncomfortable..."

I went to CD Universe and see that they have an Insatiable Definitive DVD scheduled for 12/19 also under "Raincoat Theatre."

All kidding aside (and granted, there are plenty of reasons to be joking around), I think a commentary could actually be pretty good, as long as they didn't attempt to be, shall we say, scene specific. There are some good stories behind the making of these films, and it would be interesting to hear cast (and crew) members recall how they heard about the project, why they chose to be involved, how the films were shot, etc.

Porno movies are really underappreciated, since they're essentially a dead artform- all porn made since the late 80s has been straight to video, not on 35mm prints. The old stuff is closer to REAL movies- even if you cut out all the naughty stuff, you'd still have something left in most cases.

Image Entertainment was actually started by people in the porn business, though they pretty much put out whatever they could get. They had to send the porn to a different label though when they got a deal to distribute Disney's laserdisc titles.

There's actually a stage musical of "Debbie Does Dallas" that's mostly PG-13 rated, there's a CD of it available.

Oh yes it is! Both as the "unrated" edition, and the edited "R" version -- the R version has the notoriety of being almost an hour shorter!! Don't bother with that R version. As for the original, uncut version, it's brilliantly awful. I don't think I could make a movie that bad if I tried. When I first started at film school years ago, I was worried that my student films were the worst things in the history of the world and that I was destroying the medium that I loved. And then I went out and bought Caligula and felt better about myself. Whenever I doubt my abilities, I just turn on Caligula and I feel a lot better.

But for a movie that bad, it is compulsively watchable. Some people's guilty pleasure is Plan 9 From Outer Space, for some it's Reefer Madness, or something else.. for me, it's always Caligula.

And I do agree with whoever posted that the "porn movie" is a lost art. Some, like "Deep Throat", were more light-hearted and comedic, while others, like "The Devil in Miss Jones", were actually attempts to make a serious, thought-provoking film. Now, between DVDs and websites, it's mostly just sex, sex, sex, and no attempt at the material that many would consider to be the "fast forward" scenes. Although they made a multimillion dollar epic called "Pirates" in HiDef that came out well enough to have been edited into an R-rated straight to video action movie. Haven't seen it, but I like the idea of it.

Unfortunately, between the MPAA and the general public's feeling about sexuality in mainstream film, I don't think we'll ever see a film that combines the best filmmaking talent with great writing and real hardcore performances. I'm not sure if something like that would even work, but I'd like to see it tried.

(For the record, I'm not even a porn addict... when I went to film school they taught us about everything except music videos and porn, and when someone makes a point of intentionally ignoring a part of film history, I want to learn about it. The stories behind the birth of the porn industry, as well as the government's repeated attempts to throw the people behind the films in jail forever, make for an exciting story about free society, and the compromises such a society needs to make in order to be truly free. Think "The People vs. Larry Flynt", only so much more so. I recommend the book The Other Hollywood for that reason. It's a multi-billion dollar industry that by and large we almost pretend doesn't exist most of the time. Also, the porn industry has generally led the way for innovation way before the major studios. It's as if whenever there's a new technology, they let the porn world figure it out first before they adopt it. The porn world embraced home video and saw the potentials for it before the studios took it seriously, and they embraced using the internet as a method of content delivery way before major studios started considering "download-to-own" and online streaming and rental programs. And you can bet whatever leap comes next, the porn people will probably be the first to try it. You have to admire their willingness to dive into untested waters.)

Josh I've never seen the R rated version. I jokingly meant a directors cut of the um directors cut. ;)

Yep the great Peter O'Toole, Helen Mirren, Malcolm McDowall and oh me gosh Sir John Gielgud in an 'epic' hardcore porn movie, a collectors item if ever I saw one. The 'making of' documentary is a doozy too, don't wait for it to pop up on the Biography channel.

Well, one story could be the mystery of what happened to star "Bambi Woods", soon after DDD2 she simply disappeared and apparently not even her family knows what happened to her....so they say (IMO she just didn't want the fast lifestyle she was picking up and dropped from sight to live a normal life....that's what I think anyway).

I think Bambi Woods was profiled on the Dark Side Of Porn. I haven't seen it, but somehow the series ended up on my computer. Funny old internet!!

I almost died laughing.
