I think you should watch more of the Spike shows as you are quite often missing some of the best fights of the year. The 2005 fight of the year was a fight that aired on Spike between Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonner.

I just came here to tell you about this fight I just saw and I see it's the one you referred to above. It's in the last episode of The Ultimate Fighter Season 1, and you're not kidding about how amazing it was. It's like watching one of the brutal slugfests involving (pick 2) Hagler, Hearns, and Leonard. If ever an average person sitting on a couch thought, "Hey, I might be able to do that," this fight will refute that notion. I was sure someone was going to fall just from sheer exhaustion, but they both showed what kind of athletes they are. I have no idea who won the fight (I'm typing before I watch the announcement), but man oh man.

Yes, awesome fight. That's the fight I show people to get them interested in UFC and it hasn't failed me yet.

I was finally able to watch the UFC 65 PPV replay. Man, you guys weren't kidding about the Sylvia fight. What a borefest!

But the main event was all I expected it to be and more. I knew the outcome and still couldn't believe my eyes. I never thought someone would be able to manhandle Hughes the way GSP did. What a beating. I don't think I've ever seen GSP so focused. Like I said before, that rematch is going to be amazing.

And speaking of amazing, the Lidell-Ortiz fight is coming up in a few weeks. Can't wait for that!

Programming note, there will be a 60 minutes story on the UFC tonight. I probably won't see it as I have to cover the TNA Pay Per View but if anyone does catch it post your thoughts.

Another reminder, this Wednesday night, SpikeTV, Diego Sanchez and Joe Rigs headlines.

If you're not near a TV but are on the computer, you can get live round-by-round coverage from me at This post. Also, that will be where my thoughts on the show as a whole end up so if you see this after the fights and are interested in what I wrote then feel free to take a look. I of course will be here to discuss the fights later with anyone that wants to do so.

A great night of fighting. The Fickett and Parisyan fight was outstanding and all of the other fights were more than watchable.

If/When Diego Sanchez gets a title shot he will do big business. He knocked Joe Riggs the F' Out.

Damn, I missed this. I had a feeling Diego Sanchez could win the fight but maybe by decision.

That kid has a bright future ahead of him.

It will be replayed I'm sure, maybe even this weekend. If I hear a time I'll post it.

The times for the replay of Fight Night Live are Saturday at 8 PM Eastern and Tuesday at 2:00 AM Eastern. Set your DVR's Tivo's VCR's whatever so as to see this tremendous show.

Here is a roundtable look at the fights and who will win them including the picks of yours truly.

As I plan out my night while anticipating this fight, I thought I'd give thanks for the time you've taken bringing us noobs up to speed on UFC. I've had a few conversations with folks about it over the last few months, but I've learned at least as much here as anywhere else. I've now seen all of The Ultimate Fighter and besides having a better understanding of how UFC itself works, I also know a bit more of the history of some of the fighters. In the end, Drama sells sports. It helps to know a bit about the combatants.
