OK, I don't know where I read this or if I dreamed about it, but I have this doubt in my head about the PS3 being a region free blu-ray player. Has anyone read anything about blu-ray players (PS3 included) being region free players?

Oh! I found the article about the region free PS3. Here it is:

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/697/697656p1.html

However, I wonder if the region free only applies to games and not to movies. This article does not address the region free for blu-ray movies.

Hmm, more questions puzzles my mind. I wonder if this region free for the PS3 only applies to new PS3 games. Will the PS3 play PS2 and PS1 Japanese games? Intriguing, isn't it?

Thanks,
orestes

Hmm, I guess there are no gamers in this part of the forum. However, I could now say that it seems only PS3 newest game are going to be region free; According to my understanding, the PS2 and PS1 games will remain code locked, and so every blu-ray movie disc. This is not a good mix of features.

I would guess that the PS3 would follow suit with the failed PSP in that the movies are locked, but games are region free.

This is just an educated guess.
