The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

"LP" in the RoundUp table means a store’s Sunday flyer says "Low Price". That means I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, as always, Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

The Specials

**BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL! Waist Deep is available in both OAR and MAR versions...get the correct one!

ALSO… Be forewarned! I have included The Fox and the Hound in this week’s RoundUp. However, there are many questions about the issue of aspect ratio and whether this release is MAR or OAR. I have yet to see a definitive answer to that question, so I have decided to include the title since it is of a rather high-profile. You may want to check out some of the discussions that are taking place on the HTF Software Forum.

--I am still unsure of my efficiencies in finding and pricing the various HD & Blu-Ray release each week. Be forewarned. This week the confusion remains with questionable dates on some of the Blu-Ray titles. Posted Image

"The Munsters: First Family Of Fright" might be a purchase when I find out exactly what's on it...
"Hollywood's Legends of Horror" has a few "must-rent" titles...
No purchases this week tho...

Target's prices for HD DVD are not on the above chart...

Thought it might help some to know that Target's price For both Batman Begins

and Polar Express HD-DVD was $19.99 yesterday... JackJD

You're missing the biggest release of the week, a title many of us have been waiting many long years for: "REDS". I realize none of the store ads mention the release, but it is still supposed to be out on Tuesday.

The *final* Farscape Starburst edition ships this week. I wonder if ADV will now release a deluxe version of The Peacekeeper Wars?

Thanks for the prices, guys!

Slow week for me. Possibly, The Munsters, but according to Ron, that appears to be a rehash of the extras included in the season two set. I will wait for clarification on that one.

I was never much of a fan of Fox and the Hound, so I will pass. I also think with this release being so hot on the heels of The Little Mermaid, it may not do as well at retail as Disney is anticipating, which means we may see significantly lower sale pricing on it as we move closer to Christmas. If I can pick it up for $12-$13 I probably will, but at $18-$20, this is a "no sale" for me.

There is a manufacturer's coupon to save $3.00 when you buy Click on DVD contained in today's Parade Magazine (found in most(?) Sunday newspapers). Here's a scan of the ad and coupon:

Reds was rescheduled to the 17th. The HD-DVD & BluRay versions will be out on 11/7.

Three truths about movies, as noted by Roger Ebert:

* It's not what a movie is about, it's how it is about it.

* No good movie is too long, and no bad movie is short enough.

Fry's Houston ad is showing "Scrubs" S4 for $24.99.

Just "Scrubs" & the Warner Film Masterpiece box for me. I'm enjoying this relatively light October, because 11/7 through 12/5 are going to be killers!

Scrubs, now that there's a $24.99 deal, hopefully here!
Bats in HD seems to be THE HD disc, so I got that coming from Amazon with a couple other HD titles to take advantage of 10% off deal.

Thanks, Mike and Patrick!

Just Scrubs #4 this week. I'm tempted to buy Everybody Hates Chris as a blind buy, but I'm going to Netflix the first disc to see if I like this show. Chris Rock is always been hit or miss for me...

The original Treasure Island is tempting, but I'll wait until it drops in price.

I don't think ADV holds the rights to TPW. It was a Hallmark/Lionsgate release. BTW, my local BB had 4.3 out yesterday, so I picked it up. Otherwise, Ethan Green and Fos and the Hound.
