From the press release:
Quote:
The lineup of great titles available in HD DVD continues to grow with Warner Home Video's announcement of two highly anticipated titles. On October 10 Warner Home Video will release the 2005 blockbuster “Batman Begins,” which includes brand new content in the In Movie Experience (IME), allowing consumers to enjoy this movie in a brand new way. On the same day, the popular animated holiday feature film “Polar Express,” starring Tom Hanks, will make its debut in the HD DVD format.

The HD DVD Promotional Group also announced additional studio support, with Rhino Entertainment, a Warner Music Group company specializing in DVD, set to release three new titles: “The Eagles- Live In Melbourne;” “Cream- Live at the Royal Albert Hall;” and “James Taylor- A MusiCares Person of the Year Tribute,” all on November 14, 2006. Image Entertainment, Inc., a leading independent licensee, producer and distributor of home entertainment programming in North America, recently announced its initial slate of HD DVD music titles including: “Chicago/Earth, Wind & Fire: Live at the Greek;” “Heart: Alive in Seattle;” and “Barry Manilow: Manilow Live!”

Batman will be finally be here! Let's just hope they don't make it into a combo.

I don't see it being a combo. It's nearly 2 1/2 hours in length. It's got the IME feature. An hour-long documentary presumably ported over from the SD-DVD. And a Dolby TrueHD track.

Batman Begins pushed my Panasonic's black levels more than just about any DVD I have watched. Can't wait to see what the HD will do.

Was TrueHD announced elsewhere? It's not in the press release.

Great news. The digital screening of Polar Express was absolutely breathtaking. To be able to re-create that experience at home would be dream comes true.

Bluray need to speed up.

Finally.

I'll be picking up both Batman and Polar Express.

Batman Begins in TrueHD? That'll be an experience, no doubt.

Batman Begins already sounds b-e-a-u-tiful on plain ole Dolby Digital 5.1. Thoughts of TrueHD with this one gives me a slight fear for the life of my home's foundation. Posted Image

According to Cjplay, who is a compressionist, over on AVS there will be a TrueHD track on Batman Begins. This is secondhand knowledge so take it with a grain of salt but I just thought I'd throw it out there.

Not sure what the point of Rhino releasing HD DVD is; most of their DVDs are from VHS-quality masters in the first place. The tiny optimistic corner of me says maybe they'll upgrade their masters and the rest of me just scoffs.
