I saw Kristen Bell's appearance on the Late Late show with Craig Ferguson, and she was really great, and Ferguson really liked her spunkiness.

So far: WORST BROADCAST EVER!!!
In order to watch Veronica Mars in HD, I have to watch it on local canadian channel Sun TV.
Get this:
During the teaser, it began as a SD 4x3 broadcast, then those 'please stand by' - type color bars interrupted several times, then it finally switched to 16x9 HD.
That is...
...until after the second commercial break, where it resumed in 4x3 SD again for the entire act. Just now, the third break (9:23PM EST) ended and it started 4x3 but quickly switched to 16x9.
Does this sort of thing ever happen? I've never seen this before on any other HD channel (CBS just pixellates like crazy during fast-motion scenes, but that's it)
At the very least, I did see the streaming webcast so I didn't miss anything in that regard.
What a way for this channel to debut VM in HD, huh?

Whoever came up with those "Aerie" girls (whatever the hell they're supposed to be) needs to be shot. I sat throguht them for both Gilmore Girls and VM, and they made me feel like less of a man.

So I'm guessing there won't be a season-long mystery arc this season? I don't think the rapist thing is gonna cut it.

Okay, first off, what in the name of great Zeus did they do to the opening credits!? They were aweful IMO.
They took what was once a great song that had a lot of energy and slowed it down to a crawl!
Anyhoo, the season premiere was great otherwise, Veronica made herself right at home at college and it's nice to see that Logan and her are still happy, i've always liked them as a couple.
So,
The one I really feel bad for is Dick, poor kid,
I'm stoked that Veronica Mars is once again on the case!

So,
Kendell was murdered by the same Fitzpatrick that they talked about at the end of last season, right? I guess so because of the way they were, apparently. getting cozy before Kieth went out to the car. What a shame about Kendell, but, I never really liked her character much. Not saying that i'm thankful she's dead just that I won't lose any sleep over her character's absence this season.
The one I really feel bad for is Dick, poor kid,
turned out his little brother was a violent psychopath and now he's just adrift in the world it seems.
I'm curious to see what happens with him this year.I'm stoked that Veronica Mars is once again on the case!

I enjoyed tonight's season premier. I think this season has some real potential. I've read on some VM message boards that some people don't like that new Piz character. Other than his name I had no problem with the guy. Just what is a Piz anyway?
My only real complaint with this season is the new remix of the theme music. Holy crap that is jarring after two seasons of the original version. I do like the new visuals however. They're very... um... modern day film noirish.
Oh... and I do have to mention the annoying CW advertising at the bottom of the screen during the show. I think they were kind enough to remind us that this was the season premier four times tonight. Thanks guys!

Great episode. Loved the dialogue and especially the "Frak" remark and the Neptune, Mars and Saturn thing too.
God I hope people start watching ths so we get a full season.

They need to bring back the old mix of the opening theme song.
I didn't mind the new graphics, but the way they distorted the song was just too weird.

Agreed the new mix of the song is horrid. Loved how in the opening segment, Veronica tongue-in-cheek speaks of making new friends and then of course shows up the teacher's assistant the first day.

I enjoyed the season premiere very much! First time watching an episode "live" in a long time.
Good riddance to the Kendall character. I couldn't stand her at all. But I guess we weren't suppose to like her.
Looks like this season could be better than the last one.

The cinematography looked somewhat less grainy than previous seasons. I wonder if they upgraded from super 16mm to 35mm. The "dub version" of the Dandy Warhols track was jarring, but those CW promos with the chatty girls on the couch made me feel like if I watch VM or Gilmore Girls, I will have to turn in my man card and forfeit my right to use the men's restroom on Tuesdays. Time to upgrade to a hi-def DVR so I can skip those things.

Are we sure Kendall's dead? I'm not ruling out her and Keith being two steps ahead of the Fitzpatricks and putting blanks in the gun. It just seems to be an unnecessarily final way to clear the decks.
The film stock seems to have gotten better (or maybe they're shooting on HD video now rather than 16mm), but a lot of scenes seemed too dark. It's almost like the producers are trying too hard for the film noir feel, especially considering the new theme mix.
But, so far, so good, story-wise. I like the happier Veronica, and the new cast is already starting to grow on me.
Question - was the girl Dick hits on before getting beat up an uncredited Amanda Seyfried? I couldn't spot a name for her in either the opening or closing credits, and it looked enough like her for me to wonder.

Very solid premiere. I'm hoping it manages to lure in some new audience members (as they're clearly trying to do with their somewhat more bite-sized mysteries), or I imagine this will be the last season.

I think Kristen mentioned on her late late show appearance that it's a hybrid, similar to what she drives in real life.

VM lost about 40% of its lead-in audience from Gilmore Girls. This is not a good thing. Let's hope it trends higher next week.
