Call it the Netflix effect, but do I really need to own all of these DVDs?

According to my wife the answer to the above question has always been "No", and I actually have to agree now. S/H is a flat $2 via media mail (no matter how large your order). I prefer PayPal, but I will accept personal checks if you do not have a PayPal account. My PayPal ID is: flymfly@sbcglobal.net

Feel free to email/IM/Post if you have any questions!

CRITERION:
Tokyo Olympiad
"Ichikawa's cameras follow the 1964 Summer Olympics from opening to closing ceremonies. Sometimes he focuses on spectators, as athletes pass in a blur; sometimes he isolates a competitor; other times, it's a closeup of muscles as a hammer is thrown or a barbell lifted; or, we watch a race from start to finish. We see come-from-behind wins in the women's 800 and the men's 10,000 meters. We follow an athlete from Chad from arrival to meals, training, competition, and loss. Throughout, the film celebrates the nobility of athletes pushing themselves to the limit, regardless of victory. " $20

MUSIC DVD:
Norman Granz Jazz In Montreux Presents Ella & Basie '79
"This concert is the perfect example of how to "swing". The ideal combination of Ella Fitzgerald, at the height of her powers in 1979, with the Count Basie Orchestra and then accompanied by the great man himself, leads to a sublime evening with versions of such Ella classics as Flying Home and A-tisket, A-tasket." 5.1 & dts! $5

Peter Gabriel "Growing Up Live"
"Peter Gabriel: Growing Up Live presents the complete 2003 Milan concert from Peter Gabriel's tour based around the album Up, featuring 17 tracks across 134 minutes. Literally central to a memorable show is a revolving stage that sees Gabriel going for a cycle ride in an exuberant "Solsbury Hill," performing "Growing Up" inside a Zorb ball, and delivering a gravity-defying sky walk in "Downside Up" with daughter Melanie. Accompanied by regular sidemen David Rhodes (guitar) and Tony Levin (bass), Gabriel is joined by the legendary Blind Boys of Alabama for the spine-tingling "Sky Blue," throughout mixing recent tracks like the abrasive "Darkness" and "The Barry Williams Show" with established crowd pleasers such as "Red Rain," "In Your Eyes," and "Sledgehammer." " $9

Scratch (2 disk)
"A feature-length documentary film about hip-hop DJing, otherwise known as turntablism. From the South Bronx in the 1970s to San Francisco now, the world's best scratchers, beat-diggers, party-rockers, and producers wax poetic on beats, breaks, battles, and the infinite possibilities of vinyl." $8

Elvis Costello and the Imposters-"Club Date-Live In Memphis"
"The old saying goes, "You can never go home again." Elvis Costello has made a career of doing what "can't" or "never should" be done, and Club Date: Live In Memphis is no exception. Costello returns to his musical roots, leaving the cozy comfort of theater-sized venues and stages for a tiny, sweaty club in Memphis, Tennessee for a set that rolls through his best songs from his 27-year career. Club Date: Live In Memphis, recorded in late 2004, was shot in High-Definition and features Stereo, 5.1 Surround and DTS audio to give the viewer that intimate setting from their own home. " $8

DOCUMENTARY:
IMAX: Blue Planet
"From the unique vantage point of 200 miles above Earth's surface, we see how natural forces - volcanoes, earthquakes and hurricanes - affect our world, and how a powerful new force - humankind - has begun to alter the face of the planet. From Amazon rain forests to Serengeti grasslands, Blue Planet inspires a new appreciation of life on Earth, our only home." $5

Blindspot: Hitler's Secretary
"Traudl Junge was Adolf Hitler's private secretary, from Autumn 1942 until the collapse of the Nazi regime. She worked for him at the Wolfsschanze in Obersalzberg, on his private train and, finally, in his bunker in the besieged capital. It was Traudl Junge to whom Hitler dictated his final testament. In her first ever on-camera interview, 81-year-old Junge talks about her unique life. In the spring of 2001, Andre Heller succeeded in convincing Traudl Junge how valuable it is to record her unique memories. Fifty-six years after the end of the Second World War, an important eyewitness reveals her experiences to us. What she saw and heard turned her into an furious opponent of National Socialism; an opponent, moreover, who is still painfully aware and seems incapable of forgiving the young girl she once was--for her naivete, ignorance, and her liking for Hitler." $5
