A flip-side to the other post, what are some supposedly awful films that you liked?
My pick is:
UHF (Trashed by critics, one of the funniest movies I've seen. The movie IS uneven, but the gags that work are memorable.)
Also, I thought O Brother Where Art Thou (I think EW gave it an F) is an excellent film. I'm a fan of screwball comedies and this one is funny.

I think EW is one of the rare exceptions that didn't like O Brother to some extent.
I haven't heard many good things about Link Removed , but I really enjoyed it. Also, I seem to be one of only a few who enjoys Link Removed .

I'm the only die-hard horror fan on the planet who actually consider Valentine and the House on Haunted Hill remake to be better than a lot of the crap that is labeled horror these days. If I'm not the only one, I'm definitely in the minority.

I agree with "the big hit", LDP and his "ya baby" cracks me up as does Bokeem Woodbine.
I liked "battle field earth" also. Probably b/c my expectations were very, very low.

I liked Judge Dredd which I don't think was an Academy winner.

UHF, I agree. I am really looking forward to the SE DVD of this movie.
Hey, Patrick. How's it going? It's Captain Caps from the Toonzone Boards. I know we don't chat that often. We'll have to sometime.
Sincerely,
John Kilduff

I agree about all the movies listed in this thread! Expect Valentine, Death becomes her and Supernova, which I haven't seen, and Battlefield: earth which surprisingly did not pass for me...
Additions
Charlie's angels, Hollow man, Dungeons & Dragons (Not so sure any more if these were really bashed that much, I know there are many more who like them)
Another examples of great movies with many fans that are still bashed are also Ford Fairlane and Harley Davidson & The Marlboro man

I love Groundhog Day, but I've never heard anywhere that it was supposed to be an 'awful' movie.

The 13th Warrior.
I really enjoy this universally-panned film and watch it every couple of months. It's actually among my favorite escapist movies of the past few years.

Supernova - I'm easy to please when it comes to Sci-Fi. Sometimes, I enjoy adventures in space even if it's a B-movie or scientifically inaccurate.

As for the bad rap about the characters--hey, I've seen space operas that put their emphasis on human personalities and relationships. They're called "Star Trek" movies. Give me transparent underwater cities and vast hollow senatorial spheres any day. --Roger Ebert on The Phantom Menace
