One of my all-time favorite bands is Heart. I prefered their harder-edged seventies sound, but they made a big comeback in the eighties--and their hair was very big--both the Wilson sisters as well as the male band members.
Their biggest hits during that period were What About Love, Never, These Dreams, Nothin' At All, Alone, Who Will You Run To, and There's The Girl. (All I Wanna Do was also a big hit but that was 1990.)
Have fun :)

I don't know if I would call them a "Hairband", but to this very day, I LOVE 'Def Leppard'!

and honorable mention goes to:
Petra
White Lion
Cinderella
DISCLAIMER:
a hobby of mine is doing jigsaw puzzles of old hair bands and my choices have no basis on musical ability but how cool their puzzles are.

My God Man!!! Iron Maiden is NOT a hair band.
I'll second this, unlike a lot of hair bands, Iron Maiden has REAL talent!!! And would not associate Iron Maiden with any "Hair" Band!!

I pretty much HATED all of the hair bands of the 80's, but if I had to pick one as a "least hated" it would be Motley Crue.

MOTLEY CRUE (they capture the West Hollywood lifestyle in song like no other)
KIX (the most underrated band of it's time. Fun songs and they were actually talented to boot)
DOKKEN (I'm with Matthew on this one. Good to see some of todays teens still like fun songs)
TRIXTER
WINGER
CINDERELLA
POISON

Cinderella (Nobodys fool, Night songs)
Dokken (Into the fire, Mr. Scary)
Skid Row (Youth gone wild, 18 and life)
Warrant (Uncle Tom's Cabin, Cherry Pie)
Hanoi Rocks (Million Miles away)
Quiet Riot (Mental Health)
Wasp (The Flame, F**k like a beast,Wild Child)
Ratt (You think your Tuff, Round and Round)
Stryper (Soldiers under command)

Guns n Roses (Welcome to the Jungle)And pretty much all GnR
Bon Jovi (Runaway, Wanted dead or alive)
Def Leppard (Bringing on the heartbreak) All DL rocks
Great White (Stick it)
I'm not sure I would classify all these as "Hair Bands" but have been called "Hair Bands" by some, they had big hair and TALENT to boot!
Weak Hair Bands would include:
Poison (Every rose has it's thorn)
Winger (Seventeen)
Nelson (After the rain)
L.A.Guns (Ballad of Jane)
Keel (Right to Rock)
Firehouse (All she wrote)
Trixter
Girl hair band:
Vixen (Edge of a broken heart)
Lita Ford (Gotta let go)
Gotta Go, The Chiefs are on!! OK I'm back the Chiefs suck!!!

What about Pretty Boy Floyd would they be considered a hair band ?
Well if they had "BIG" hair, you could call them a hair band I guess.
My idea of real Hair Bands is bands like Poison,Cinderella, Ratt, etc. Bands that girls used to rave about.Kinda girly lookin, with pretty make-up,etc.
Lets go back to my last post and I will add a good song or 2 from each of the good hair bands.

My wife and I are 80's rockers ourselves (Heavy Metal) and we're not sure VH-1 had a 100 greatest "HAIR" bands special, heck we've heard of most 80's bands and it is hard to believe there are 100 hair bands worthy to make a 100 greatest hair band special. But we most certainly could be wrong on this.
But we did watch a greatest "Rock" bands of the 80's special, which did feature many good Hair bands.
Remember "MY" definition of a "HAIR" band is a band like Poison(Glam, girly, flash in the pans). For example Iron Maiden had lots of hair, but are not considered a "HAIR" band.
I'm sorry I cannot direct you to a list.
But I can name you 100 great rock bands from the 80's if you like.
