I am including this title this week only because most of my new release sources have it for August 29. However, most retailers are listing it for September 12.

Individual titles included in box sets listed above:

The Atomic Bomb Collection: Trinity and Beyond, Nukes in Space, Atomic Journeys: Welcome to Ground Zero.

The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

"LP" in the RoundUp table means a store’s Sunday flyer says "Low Price". That means I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, as always, Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

The Specials

**BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL! Akeelah and the Bee AND The Sentinel are available in both OAR and MAR versions...get the correct one(s) !

--I am still unsure of my efficiencies in finding and pricing the various HD & Blu-Ray release each week. Be forewarned. It seems like in-store prices at Best Buy and Circuit City are coming in cheaper than the prices as reported on-line.

I think this is a good week to note that Time-Life has released The Odd Couple: Season 1. Many sources are announcing this as a new release this week, but Time-Life has an exclusive and will be releasing this only through their company. For details click HEREl!

Many HTFers are starting to receive their copies and seem to be pleased with the quality of their season 1 set. Click HERE for reviews and information.

This information is currently up at the Time-Life site:

Circuit City's pricing on the Romancing the Stone/Jewel of the Nile Collection is odd. Get the set for $25 or buy both of them separately for $19.98. Thanks, as usual, Mike and Patrick!

Thanks for the Roundup. Correction on Amazon's price for the Romancing/Jewel Collection. I had ordered them from Amazon & I got an email today that their new price is $19.87 & I wouldn't be charged the old price of $22.49 . I've also got Pretty In Pink & Some Kind of Wonderful coming from DDD @ $9.44 each.

Thanks as usual. Andy Griffith Romancing the Stone (assuming improved PQ) Jewel of the Nile (ditto) Father of the Bride slipped under my radar, but if there's a reason to upgrade I'll do that one to. I'm definitely not upgrading on LOTR just for some documentary.

It is nice to see that Best Buy did decide to have a special price for Dream Theater: Score for its debut Tuesday (thanks Patrick). Of course, I assumed that they weren't going to do that, so I ordered in online for a few bucks more. Oh well, it was an amazing concert to see in person and one that I was going to own on DVD no matter what the cost ended up being.

No "gotta have it right away" releases for me this week. I am tempted to upgrade on "Pretty in Pink" just for the original ending, but I think I can wait. And I will get Desperate Housewives S2 and MST3K v. 10 eventually, too, just not this week. And no, I'm not shelling out for the LOTR trilogy again, given that I have both previous releases of all three films - unless someone can convince me that the new documentaries are absolutely essential. And I think that would take a miracle. Thanks for the hard work, as always, guys.

Thanks for the RoundUp, Mike and Patrick! Looks like Arrested Development for me this week. Actually, it's for my wife who is a HUGE fan, but I enjoy the program, too.
For $19.99, I say absolutely! This was a blind buy for me and I ended plowing through the set in around four days. The show occasionally has the trappings of your typical WB "teen" drama, but in reality, it is a whole different breed of animal. (Give it a chance, especially at the beginning.) The main story arc, which is pretty dark, is told completely over the course of the season and it really builds up steam as the season progresses. In the end, it is quite effective and the season finale is one of the best I've seen for any program, ever. As always, YMMV, but for $20, you can do a lot worse than Veronica Mars, IMO. BTW, as someone well beyond the age of the show's target audience, I still found the program thoroughly enjoyable.

This review - http://www.andyfilm.com/8-22-06.html - says that the original ending isn't actually on the disc - they just discuss it and show some footage of the filming of it.

For anyone interested in Pretty in Pink and Some Kind of Wonderful, Paramount has already announced a box set with these two plus Ferris Beuller's Day Off to come out 10/10.

Thanks for the round-up. Deep Discount has the Atomic Bomb Collection for $23.96. The three discs are the same, including the 3-D portion. The cover is different (it was released in 2000). I show clips from Trinity & Beyond to my freshman -- they love it.

Why does the LOTR Trilogy box set cost so much more than if you bought all three movies separately? That just doesn't make sense.
