I'm surprised they are bundling those. I thought they were all coming out as individual 2-disc editions. And they're bundling them out of order ?

They're using the same old gimmick, packaging the best and the worst in the same box: Goldfinger/Golden Gun, Thunderball/Die Another Day, etc. Oh well, I'm buying them all anyway.

I just wish they'd realize that Americans can buy complete 20-film boxsets too.

I wonder if we are getting all 4 of the boxsets at once or just the first two this fall based on just the first two appearing on that list.

Those two bundles are God-awful. Of them, I would definitely purchase Goldfinger and Thunderball if there were released individually.

I would probably purchase Diamonds Are Forever too, even though I detest it, since the Connery completist tempation is too great. Hey, nobody's perfect. ;)

I would get on this quickly if you had any interest in these two disk remasters. Knowng them they will quickly discontinue it and re-release it in a few years.

Well, $63 for five Bond flicks isn't too bad. I'm guessing they're going to create a total of four 'sets'?

The other thing is that per reviews only half the reissues are significantly better and the new menus look really boring.

I thought all the Bond films were being released in one Ultimate Collection. What's with all this bundle BS? I want all the Bond films in one cool case. If reigon 2 can have all the goodness, then why can't Americans. Starting to think I was born in the wrong country.

The bundled packs are not ideal but there is a work around (that if, if the versions are worth owning in the first).

Buy the packs and sell off the ones you don't want.

If I've learned anything is that there are people that flat out love a Bond film that you wouldn't watch twice.

There's really only one Bond film that I hate: Live and Let Die. My problem is that they're just slapping them together in seemlingly random bundles instead of selling them as one classy set.

I was really hoping for something special like the region 2 set.

WTF?!

I've been anticipating that damn attache case for months now! I had no idea it was going to be R2 only. :frowning:

So much for the idea of buying an "Ultimate Collection".

Here's some information from the MI6 website about the releases and dates:

Release Dates
The UK release date has been confirmed as July 17th 2006. The UK will enjoy a 20 title "monster box" collectors edition of all the Ultimate Edition DVDs, as well as individual releases of each film. All titles will be released simultaneously. The region two discs will retail for £16.99 RRP each, with the moster box retailing for £299 RRP.

The USA release has been split in to two phases. Phase 1 will comprise of two box sets, each containing five films. James Bond: The Ultimate Collection Vol. 1 will include two-disc sets of "Diamonds Are Forever," "Goldfinger," "The Living Daylights," "The Man With The Golden Gun" and "The World Is Not Enough". James Bond: The Ultimate Collection Vol. 2 will include "Die Another Day," "License To Kill," "The Spy Who Loved Me," "Thunderball" and "A View To A Kill". Volumes 1 & 2 will be released on 7th November 2006 and will retail for $89.98 each. Phase 2 of the release, which will include the remaining ten films in another two volumes, is expected in May 2007 to coincide with the release of "Casino Royale" on DVD.

History
The 007 "Ultimate Edition" DVDs were originally planned for release in October/November 2005 to coincide with the release of the 21st James Bond film in theatres. Since MGM canned the original 18th November 2005 release date, the DVD plans were been pushed back a year. The series will now be released to co-incide with "Casino Royale" opening in theatres in November 2006.
