The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

"LP" in the RoundUp table means a store’s Sunday flyer says "Low Price". That means I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, as always, Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

Can someone please explain to me the difference between some of the V for Vendetta listings in the Roundup? What is with the V for Vendetta Deluxe Edition that is priced for $8.99 - $9.99? Is the Best Buy exclusive edition (with the mask and four pictures) going to cost more than the 2-disc Special Edition? I've been looking forward to this release since I saw it in theaters and I just want to be sure to get the right one. Thanks.

Forgot to post last week for some reason, but I haven't been in the dvd buying mood for a while, so nothing for me. Just too many re-releases have made me not want to buy stuff at times I guess.
I need a new signature.

Anyone else confused by the multiple editions of V for Vendetta? I get the 1-disc, 2-disc and Best Buy versions, but what is the "Deluxe Edition" at around $10?

I preordered the 2-disc from Amazon, and I think that was the right way to go.

Great catalog sales this week!

Thanks for the scoop, fellas!

OK, Kyle, I see now that it's not just me... Posted Image

Sorry Kyle...Julio (and everyone else)! That was all a typo.

I've got the V for Vendetta listings sorted out now!

Here's what the Best Buy set looks like:

There are brief descriptions of the Best Buy & Target exclusives in the "Specials" section of the RoundUp. Hope that clears everything up.

Voilà! In view, a humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of Fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the vox populi, now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a by-gone vexation, stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin van-guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition.

The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous.

Verily, this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it is my very good honor to meet you and I will be buying V (for Vendetta).
Luckily, right at that moment, an unconscious Argentinean fell through my roof.

He was quickly joined by a dwarf dressed as a nun.

Thanks as always for the roundup. My first purchase in at least a month will be V For Vendetta 2 disc from Amazon w/ free 2 day shipping (as I just began a 3 month trial of Amazon Prime). I wanted Hudson Hawk 15AE last week, A Fish Called Wanda SE this week & Mission:Impossible season one Sep. 12th but it seems everything I want gets yanked from the schedule. Grab those V For Vendettas fast Tuesday as they may not know yet that I want it & it might be recalled.

Thanks, Mike, for the extra info.

The BB set looks nice, but I can't justify an extra $15 when Guy Fawkes masks were available at Comic-Con for around $3. I'm sticking with my pre-order. I can get a full-size movie poster for around $10, rather than one of those postcard-size ones...

Interesting to note the Fox price drop on various TV on DVD sets. I notice the Futurama sets - which BB has "on sale" this week - are among the items scheduled to drop in price. Wonder if they're dropping to around $19.99...

Bill, according to Amazon, the "A Fish Called Wanda" SE is still on the schedule for Tuesday. They have it at $16.99. I would be very interested in round-up prices on this title!

This did not appear on a single "new release" list for me this week. But Best Buy lists it, too. In the case it makes it to the shelf...

Amazon kept Hudson Hawk up for sale until its sale date & then for several days it said 1 to 3 week shipping & then ditched it. How much you want to bet Wanda follows the same pattern? I'm ordering it from them just in case but I'm not holding my breath. At least these seem to be cases where they will eventually be released but just date unknown.

Odd about A Fish Called Wanda. I went ahead & ordered it from Amazon; we'll see what happens.

Three truths about movies, as noted by Roger Ebert:

* It's not what a movie is about, it's how it is about it.

* No good movie is too long, and no bad movie is short enough.

* No good movie is depressing, all bad movies are depressing.

Oh, BTW, Fry's in Houston is advertising "Curb Your Enthusiasm" S5 for $24.99. YMMV, as Fry's does regional pricing, but CYE fans in Fry's cities should definitely look into this.
