Has anyone heard any news about "The Manitou" being released on DVD?
I thought I saw something about this movie coming to DVD a while ago.

Thank you!

This was a pretty good flick that I would pick up. The book is really good. Thanks for reminding me of this.

It's available on DVD in the UK, if you're set up to play Region 2 discs.

It was supposed to be on Anchor Bay's release schedule for 2006/2007 but the last time I checked their site, their "In The Future" listing had vanished.

I will forever have ingrained in my memory the image of a half naked Susan Strasberg shooting fireworks out of her hands......Posted Image

Here is a hilarious review of the film with sound clips and all of dat kind of stuff:http://www.badmovies...movies/manitou/

"Imagine for a moment that you've got a strange bump on the back of your neck. Now imagine it's growing at an astounding rate. As a final insult you find out it's not a tumor, but an Indian medicine man being reborn! (At this point you wake up sweating and probably swear off tequila.)

What I'm trying to get at is the plot of this movie my friends, it's all about a very unhappy shaman being reborn from an enormous pimple on Karen's neck...."

Just a bit of trivia regarding the Manitou (from the Encyclopedia Mythica)
Manitou, The Great Spirit, is an Algonquin term, often erroneously applied as spirit monster. Manitou combines the meanings of Spirit, mystery, magic, and generally is applied to the manifestation of some form of power that is not readily understood or coming from elsewhere.

There's a human tendency to resent anyone who disagrees with our pleasures.  The less mature interpret that as a personal attack on themselves.
