Has anyone heard about a season 3 release date? also I wonder if universal will go away from the double sided disc with this set.
this show did have 39 episodes per season.they could probably put this number of episodes on 6 one sided disc.and boy it would be great to include some nice extras
I don't know if the cleavers ever did any tv commercials in charactor like so many of the stars of tv shows of that era.but it would sure be nice to see something like that.

I'm confident that Universal will follow through with a Beaver #3. (Knock wood, really hard.)

If just the 1st two LITB releases can be considered a pattern (albeit a mini one thus far), then we should see Beav S.3 in November 2006. That would be A-OK with me.

And the recent turn toward 1-sided platters @ Univ. is also nice....because it will allow discs with pictures on them. A 6-Disc Beaver set could include disc pics of The Beav, Wally, Ward, June, Eddie, and perhaps a family photo on Disc 1 (or Disc 6). Or Univ. could opt to put a picture of Miss Landers on Disc 6 instead. Or perhaps "The Lump". :)

DVP LITB Predictions:

Universal will announce "Leave It To Beaver: The Complete Third Season" on August 18, 2006. The release date will be November 7, 2006.

It'll be a 6-Disc set (using one-sided DVD-9s), with the exact same style packaging as S.1 and S.2 -- i.e., three slim cases placed in an open-ended slipcase. Except that for S.3, each slim case will hold 2 discs, instead of just one. That will be nice for uniformity, with the footprint size of each season being identical, even though S.3 will have twice the number of DVDs.

Let's see how good my Beaver crystal ball turns out to be. :)

This is the only show where I like each season better than the one before.I find the story lines more interesting as the characters grew older.having eddie and lumpy in the story lines definately made things more interesting. in those latter seasons. come on universal bring on seasons 3 to 6.

I agree! (LITB got better and better with each season.) Based on release dates for the first two seasons they were about six months apart. So the schedule will hopefully stay that way! We should expect something like this:

Season 1: November 2005

Season 2: May 2006

Season 3: November 2006

Season 4: May 2007

Season 5: November 2007

Season 6: May 2008

Two more years before all seasons are out. But it would be CRIMINAL to not release this whole set to DVD! I love seeing all the restored scenes that were cut by TV Land/syndication. It's a beautiful transfer!

Add me to the list that likes LITB more and more as the seasons (and characters) grew. Actually, it really is almost like two different shows when you take the first house on Grant Ave. and compare it to the second house on Pine. Admittedly, Ward and June did seem to "tighten" up a bit once the show shifted to the second house. Neither of them seemed quite as sympathetic to the boys' plights, and both were a tad more starchy after the move.

But on the plus side I felt all the kids, and especially Eddie and Lumpy, improved dramatically. I don't know exactly what it is but those last couple of seasons just crack me up when Eddie and Lumpy got involved in the storyline. And it didn't hurt that Cheryl Holdridge had a recurring role as Julie Foster during those later years (although she appeared in a second season episode as "Gloria"). She was one of my bigger tv crushes when I watched the show in reruns during the 70's.

Gary "and I also agree it would be a crime for Universal not to release all six seasons" O.

Ok, we are about 1 week away from Universal's announcement that "Leave it to Beaver - Season 3" will be released in November. At least that's what my good buddy David has said. Hope you are right, and for the record I tend to agree that a November release makes complete sense.

Gary "in fact, if we don't get a November or early December release date given to us fairly soon, I'll start getting worried about Universal's commitment to this great series" O.

Today at tv shows on dvd, there has been 4 or 5 tv on dvd announcements , and all are from universal. So i wouldnt be suprised if season 3 gets announced today ! Please let it be single sided dvds this time ! I have yet to get to season 2 for that reason, secretly hoping theyll rerelease that on single sided discs within the next year.

You'd think that we'd get an announcement if Universal is going to release the third season before Christmas time. If we don't hear anything today, I'm gonna start getting a little anxious about the status of the series as a whole.

Gary "I hope Universal isn't going to back off giving us two a year, much less giving up on the series altogether" O.

But Incredible Hulk was recently released and Hitchcock is an upcoming set. Both LITB and AHP are of the same vintage, have a similar (if not the same) episode count, have approximately the same running time, and LITB is going to be released after AHP so why would they go back to a DVD 18 for a set with so many similarities when they've done sets without them and they know the DVD 18s aren't working for them? I can't know for sure but it seems pretty unlikely.

That's being a bit overly-pessimistic, Gary. Way too much so, IMO.

In fact, Universal could even wait two more months to announce a third Beaver season and still bring it out before Christmas.

Reason I say that is because of today's announcement for Hitchcock Season 2 for Oct. 17th, which is just 2 months away. So, based on that 2-months-ahead timeline on announcements, they could announce something in October for a December release. Easily so.

I'm not worried a bit about getting the last 4 Beavers. They WILL come.*

* = Or else I shall send Lumpy Rutherford over to Universal to beat the living hell out of a few bigwigs. And nobody wants to mess with an irate "Lump"! Not even the "Uni" boys.

You're probably right, David. And my mind may be playing tricks on me, but it seems like the first two release dates were out for at least 3 months in advance. In fact, a quick check at Gord's site indicates that solicitations for the first two sets were done right at 3 months in advance. So I'd say if we are going to see a release for anything before Thanksgiving, it'd need to be announced really soon. At least that's been the pattern up to this point with the series.

Gary "I'd think the show is definitely a no-brainer for Universal, but nowadays I can't take anything for granted when it comes to what a studio will and will not greenlight" O.

Since they've been having problems with some DVD-9 titles as well, they've decided those aren't working for them and will only be using DVD-5s from now on. If they have any problems with those, they will stop using them and go back to VHS. :)

The first season was announced on August 25th, 2005...released on November 22nd.

Season 2 was announced on January 31st, 2006...released May 2nd.

So, yes, those followed a 3-months-in-advance announcement.

Maybe my earlier August 18 prediction will be pretty dang close for some S.3 news.

But, I guess the "3 months" rule isn't really written in Uni-stone anyplace...is it? Anyway, Hitchcock and some other series only are getting a 2-month advanced notice.

But my earlier comment still stands.....I'm confident that all 6 years of The Beav will become reality.

~knocks own head for luck~
