I have bought new monitor with 1920 X 1200 resolution. What is the best currently available software for the HD upconversion of regular DVDs? I know that WinDVD7 has TrimensionDNM upconversion feature, but have read that better effects can be obtained with older WinDVD6 combined with TrimensionDNM, ffdshow, Avisynth and Limitedsharpen. What about new PowerDVD7? Is it possible to have quality of the picture comparable with Faroudja upscaling hardware?

Andrew K,

Absolutely, a powerful computer can produce superiour results!

dscaler5 (mpeg decoder) and ffdshow (and some avisynth scripts) produce a very nice picture indeed.
