The Disclaimer Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

"LP" in the RoundUp table means a store’s Sunday flyer says "Low Price". That means I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, as always, Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

The Specials

**BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL! Family Stone AND Hoodwinked AND Last Holiday are ALL available in both MAR and OAR versions...get the correct one!

--Another week where prices are all over the place.

--More funky pricing from Amazon this week. More discrepancies between WS and FS (WS Last Holiday (2006) $18.96/FS Last Holiday (2006) $19.49). Think they might really be trying to send a small message in favor of OAR?!?! And, there is also the matter that Amazon’s pricing on some titles such as Human Trafficking, The Warrior, Tales from the Crypt Present…Ritual, and Dinosaurs: Seasons 1 & 2 are a full $10 OR MORE higher than our other stores. Odd. But, with other titles, Amazon is its usual dollar-or-two below the B&M stores.

--Interestingly, 2nd week in a row, no mention of HD-DVD titles or players in this week’s Best Buy or Circuit City flyers.

--Best Buy is also advertising a BONUS EXCLUSIVE PREVIEW DISC of See No Evil with the purchase of The Devil’s Rejects or other select titles in store. See a Customer Specialist for details. (That makes me laugh every time I see it!) Minimum 15 per store. No rainchecks.

--Best Buy has brought back special pricing for members of its RewardZone Program…for just one title only. Buy Hoodwinked for $15.99 if you are a RZ member. ($17.99 for non-members). Not a RewardZone member? Sign up in store.

--It is worth noting that Kate & Allie: Season 1 contains only SIX EPISODES! It is also believed that some or all of the episodes have been cut in some manner. Buyer beware. Click here for more info!

--Best Buy is also helping promote the premiere this week of M: I: III (in theaters May 5) with the sale of three Tom Cruise movies: Days of Thunder, The Firm, and M: I 2 for just $5.99 each! Regular $9.99 apiece.

-- Circuit City is taking a page out of the Target playbook and is offering a $5 CC GiftCard with the purchase of Dinosaurs: Seasons 1 & 2 for $27.99. In store only.

--Circuit City is also offering FREE CANDY with the purchase of Hoodwinked ($14.99). Get your choice of Raisinets, Whoppers or Skittles. In store only.

--Howzabout an EXCLUSIVE FREE MP3 DOWNLOAD CARD with the purchase of Last Holiday at Circuit City?! While supplies last. Minimum 48 per store.

--Target is advertising a FREE AND EXCLUSIVE COMIC BOOK included with their copies of Hoodwinked on DVD. Quantity limited, no rainchecks.

--Although not quite as mouth-watering as their promotional tie-ins with Market Pantry flavored water, Target has again gotten creative and is offering a FREE 5 by 7” photo enlargement with its copies of The Family Stone on DVD. Quantity limited, no rainchecks.

--Target is also offering its old standby of a $5 Target GiftCard with the purchase of either 3rd Rock from the Sun: Season 4 or I Love Lucy: Season 6 on DVD (or the new novel Beach Road available Monday, May 1 !).

Thanks for the round up Mike, but this is a dead week for me. By the way the thread members, what would be a good portable dvd player for me to get that isn't going to cost me an arm and a leg. Budget around 150 or under.

Kenneth: We picked up a 9" Kawasaki portable DVD player at Target a few weeks ago. It has been performing nicely. It was on sale for close to $120. The bigger the screen the better...or so it seems to be to my middle-aged eyes. :D

Thanks, Mike and Patrick. Just Dinosaurs S1&2 this week (I used to love that show when I was a kid, I still can't believe it's being released). I wanted to get it at Amazon with a $10 GC, but since they're charging full MSRP I ordered it elsewhere (as any good Roundup-er would).

Probably just Hoodwinked.

I would recommend Delicatessen, killer French film from the mind behind Amelie. I'd be getting it myself, but I already have an R2 copy.

BTW, just Leave It To Beaver: Season 2 for me this week. Best TV show that ever aired.

Prices everywhere suck. Even DDD is $36.30! Guess I'm off to Best Buy Tuesday!

Mike: You've gotten great mileage out of that promotion!

Lucy S6 at Target for me...especially because I have a $5 GC that I received when I bought the last Bob Newhart set a few weeks back! And I am tempted to order The Long Long Trailer from Amazon...love that movie!

A relatively small week with only 2 purchases, but a week I've been waiting for for years. Finally, my ld of The Long, Long Trailer will be retired, making this the best week of the year so far. I'll also be picking up I Love Lucy season 6.

Universal doesn't give any of the retailers nor etailers much of a price break, therefore, you will see higher pricing on their dvd releases than most of the other studios.

Trying to cut back, but there are some tempting offers this week. Hoodwinked and Dinosaurs are the new releases that were on my radar, and good prices are available (funny that BB offers an RZ special price on Hoodwinked, and yet CC's price is STILL $1 less, so a pricematch is still needed!). I might try to talk myself into waiting awhile on both, though, since the prices will almost certainly eventually drop further.

I'm also tempted by the CC prices on Tron and the Predator CEs.

Decisons, decisions...

Thanks for the RoundUp, gents!

There is a lot of stuff being released this week, but little of it appeals to me.

It might be fun to see The Long, Long Trailer again, and I want Leave It to Beaver but I don't know if I have the stamina right now to watch it four times in a row (like last time) to ensure I have a set that plays properly all the way through. I assume we are talking about DVD-18 discs for season two?

Thanks as always Mike for your hard work each and every week.

Just Broadway's Lost Treasures Collection for me.
It can be found at DeepDiscountDVD.com for $38.99 which is the cheapest I could find anywhere when shipping is also accounted for.

Thanks Mike, once again.

I was thinking about Predator: 2-disc Collector's Edition since it is a guilty pleasure of mine and I have only the original single disc version. Anyone know if the Video and Audio is a worth while improvement?

Also I'am starting to get second thoughts on my purchases lately because I keep thinking about High Definition.

Thanks for the Roundup.

I'll be picking up the Lucy/Desi collection (the debut of Warners new slimline collections). I'll probably pick it up at Costco which seems to beat everyone on pricing for Warner collections.

Fans of the I Love Lucy show that haven't been picking up the individual seasons might be on the lookout for something Paramount is putting out collecting all 6 seasons. From the picture I've seen, it looks like they're using some kind of open topped box to hold all of these. Per forum rules I won't link directly to an e-tailer but you can find a picture at most of them.

"thinking about Predator: 2-disc Collector's Edition"

I picked it up but so far I've only watched the second disc because I'm not a big fan of the movie.

Recall reading the second release was better, the first disc which was way too dark.

CC is really slashing prices on catalog titles, too bad I bought all that stuff already.

Interesting how HD-DVD is released to almost zero fanfare and then quickly drops off the radar, kinda sad really.

When I went to BB last week to look at HD-DVD, the display wasn't even turned on and there was no signs or anything to tell people what it was.

EDIT: Thought you were talking about Predator 2 CE (which was suppose to have better video). Predator CE has the same video as I recall but better extras.
