The Emilio Miraglia Killer Queen Box Set: The Night Evelyn Came Out of the Grave, The Red Queen Kills Seven Times.

The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

"LP" in the RoundUp table means a store’s Sunday flyer says "Low Price". That means I could not locate a definite price for the item, and the ad is all I have to go on. Retailers use these phrases in advertisements so that they do not violate MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) agreements with the studios. Doing so can cost them thousands or even millions of dollars in co-op advertising funds.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, as always, Circuit City does not guarantee their sale prices in Hawaii.

The Specials

**BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL! Aeon Flux SE AND Dr. Dolittle Box Set (1, 2 & 3) AND Tristan & Isolde are ALL available in both MAR and OAR versions...get the correct one!

--More HD titles released this week. For now, I’m continuing to include them in the grid alongside the SD-DVDs.

--Another week without a Circuit City flyer for me at post time.

--More funky pricing from Amazon this week. Besides some more discrepancies between WS and FS (WS Aeon Flux $19.96/FS Aeon Flux $20.99 and WS Tristan & Isolde $18.96/FS Tristan & Isolde $$19.49) there is also the matter that Amazon’s pricing on titles such as Casanova, Everything You Want, Shadows in the Sun and Shopgirl are a full $10 OR MORE higher than our other stores. Odd.

--AND this week, there are some discrepancies in prices between Best Buy’s Sunday flyer and the prices at bb.com. The flyer prices are listed in the grid.

Match Point: BB flyer-$16.99. bb.com-$19.99
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: BB flyer-$16.99. bb.com-$14.99

--AND funky pricing differences this week between the Circuit City flyer and cc.com! I dunno what’s going on….but I don’t like it! Posted Image The flyer prices are listed in the grid.

Match Point: CC flyer-$14.99 cc.com-$17.99
Dr. Dolittle 3: CC flyer-$17.99 cc.com-$12.99
Dr. Dolittle 3-pack: CC flyer-$29.99 cc.com-$34.99
Karas: The Prophecy: CC flyer-$8.99 cc.com-$9.99

--Best Buy is advertising FREE BB EXCLUSIVE BONUS DISC on-pack with it’s copies of Aeon Flux ($14.99). The disc is titled “Effects of Aeon Flux”. Minimum 45 per store. No rainchecks.

--Best Buy’s flyer also says its copies of Karas: The Prophecy contain a BEST BUY EXCLUSIVE FEATURETTE.

--Best Buy is also advertising a BONUS DISC with its copies of American Dad! Volume 1. The bonus disc is “Family Guy Off the Cutting Room Floor”. Includes 25 deleted scenes from Season 4. Minimum 60 per store. No rainchecks.

--Best Buy is also advertising that you can save $15, instantly, on ANY season of Family Guy or The Simpsons with the purchase of American Dad! Volume 1. Must be purchased on same receipt.

--Best Buy is offering a $3 savings, instantly, on ANY Disney title with the purchase of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe ($19.99 or $29.99 SE). Must be purchased on same receipt.

--Best Buy AND Circuit City, this week, are BOTH advertising $10.50 MOVIE CASH to see the new theatrical release Poseidon (in theaters 5-13-2006). This is comes with the purchase of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1997). Valid 5-13-2006 thru 6-2-2006. At Best Buy: Minimum 4 per store. No rainchecks.

--Interestingly, no mention of HD-DVD titles or players in this week’s Best Buy flyer.

--At Circuit City, you can save $5 with the purchase of BOTH Aeon Flux SE AND Aeon Flux: Complete Animated Series.

--Circuit City also has a deal to save $6 with the purchase of BOTH Casanova AND Shopgirl.

--Circuit City also has a deal in which you can SAVE $15 when you buy American Dad! Volume 1 AND any season of Family Guy, King of the Hill, The Simpsons, or Futurama!

--Howzabout an EXCLUSIVE BONUS RINGTONE with the purchase of Cam’ron Killa Season at Circuit City?!

--Target has no advertised specials on new releases this week.

--I think it’s worth noting that Target has the new release of 9 to 5 and the recent re-releases of Oklahoma and State Fair in its $10 sale this week! I, personally, will be all over the Oklahoma and State Fair releases. Both are double dips for me and, even though I’ve read all about how horrible the Todd-AO version of Oklahoma is…I am curious as hell since I’ve never seen it and for $10 I’ll take the plunge!

--Fans of the Gilmore Girls may also want to know that Target is listing seasons 1-5 of GG for just $22.99 apiece this week. Also included in the $22.99 sale are seasons 1 & 2 of The O.C., nip/tuck and One Tree Hill…along with season 1 of Veronica Mars and Seasons 4 & 5 of The West Wing.

Just Apollo 13 HD-DVD & Doom HD-DVD for me this week. I think that my standard DVD buying is going to slow down drastically now that I have a HD-DVD player.

I've been waiting for Final Fantasy for months. Looking forward to picking that up, as well as Match Point, this week.
Luckily, right at that moment, an unconscious Argentinean fell through my roof.

He was quickly joined by a dwarf dressed as a nun.

Thanks, Mike and Patrick. Just Inspector Gadget this week (for new releases), but I may pick up a few of those WB season sets at Target, speaking of which...

Gilmore Girls: Season 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5

The O.C.: Season 1 / 2
One Tree Hill: Season 1 / 2
Veronica Mars: Season 1
The West Wing: Season 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5
I believe those sets should be $22.99 each, not $29.99. I won't be buying any of them if they are $29.99.

Scott: They are $22.99, indeed. Just check the final item in the actual RoundUp (just above the Markdowns section).

There's Jessie the yodeling cowgirl. Bullseye, he's Woody's horse. Pete the old prospector. And, Woody, the man himself.Of course, it's time for Woody's RoundUp. He's the very best! He's the rootinest, tootinest cowboy in the wild, wild west!

Missed that part of your post, Mike. I guess I skipped down to Patrick's post (which had the $29.99 price) a little early. Posted Image Thanks for pointing it out.

Edit: I just noticed the new forum software lists our # of posts under our name. Mike, I've been registered here 15 months longer than you, and don't even have 1/3 of the posts that you do. Posted Image Those Roundups must really add up. Posted Image

Of course neither of us are even in the neighborhood of Mr. Sun's 32,021 (and counting, I'm sure).

I remember posting that very same thought to Dave Lambert about 100 years ago...and the guy STILL has a ton more posts than me even though hardly ever hangs out here any more! Posted Image

Oh well. I attribute my prolific-ness to a lack of sleep and a love for the HTF. But there's a heckuva lot of HTF members who out-rank me in the "post count" column. Something tells me those post counts will be disappearing soon once Parker gets around to cleaning up more loose ends. Posted Image

Probably just FInal Fantasy for me I just dropped $45 on a bunch of $4.88 bin titles at Walmart. I wonder if HD makes Doom Suck any Less ? The A few other interesting titles but I'm learning to wait for a bit and pick them up on Discount. I was fighting the urge forever to get When Worlds Collide and it was $4.88 at Walmart, saved me $15

Thanks as usual.

A difficult week. The only 2 things I'm interested in are the "extended cuts" of The Patriot and The Replacement Killers, but those could be great additions to the films or crap that should have been left on the cutting room floor, and there's really no way to tell without watching myself. Maybe a rental.

Thanks as always, Mike & Patrick, for the Round-Up.

There's a number of titles I'm interested in (Match Point, Shopgirl, Tristan & Isolde), but I'll wait on price reductions on down the road.

Finally, I'd like to suggest an addition to this week's Round-Up - a title many of us have eagerly awaited for some time: the minor horror classic Magic (1978), starring Anthony Hopkins. $13.99 at Amazon, $14.99 at Best Buy, $15.99 at Circuit City, $13.99 at Target (note: all prices taken from the .COMs).

Three truths about movies, as noted by Roger Ebert:

* It's not what a movie is about, it's how it is about it.

* No good movie is too long, and no bad movie is short enough.

* No good movie is depressing, all bad movies are depressing.

Just two rentals for me this week: Match Point and Shopgirl. Aside from that, not all that much out there. Oh well, new FIFA game coming out for the 360 this week. That should tide me over 'till Munich arrives on 5/9.

Ill be getting Match Point and FF Advent Children. The patriot extended looks interesting but I'd rather get a review first. Thanks for the hard work as usual.
